Where is Susan Lucci of ‘All My Children’ Today?
Susan Lucci can, perhaps, be credited for all but making All My Children the legendary soap opera that it is today. With the recent news that the hit ABC soap will soon be getting a reboot, we decided to see where the cast of the original show is today. And, of course, we have to start with the woman that brought the villainous — and iconic — Erica Kane to life. (Sheila Carter could never.)
Susan Lucci said she was excited about the ‘All My Children’ reboot
In a recent interview that’s gone viral, Susan Lucci of All My Children spoke via Zoom from her home on Long Island, NY. The legendary actress was then informed that the classic soap opera was getting a reboot courtesy of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Ripa and Consuelos are the executive producers of Pine Valley. They also got their start on the hit ABC soap opera.
And a reboot, said Susan Lucci, would be amazing.
“I’m somebody who doesn’t like to talk about something until I’m on the set actually doing it,” she said. “But it was leaked that there is a show in the works called ‘Pine Valley’ that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos will be producing,” she says. “And that sounds really interesting because it’s very, very cleverly done and it takes into account the characters who the audience loves and it put some new characters in there that keeps it very fresh. So I’m excited to see if that really goes. They tell me yes. And I told them, yes, I’m interested.”
She wants Ariana Grande to play her in her life story
In a recent interview on the podcast “Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef,” Susan Lucci spoke extensively about her legendary career on All My Children. And she told the podcaster that she’d like Ariana Grande to play her in a biopic about her life.
“When I watch Ariana Grande on The Voice, it does occur to me,” she said. “I think she would be very good.”
But if Ariana is otherwise booked and busy, the All My Children legend says there’s one other person she’d consider for the role. “The other one who has struck me, who would be good to play me would be, would be Camila Cabello. Both of them would, would have a lot of juice. I think,” she said.
She’s had some good times, and some bad times
In June 2021, Susan Lucci revealed that her mother died. Lucci’s mother, Jeanette, was 104 when she died. And in an Instagram post, Lucci paid tribute to her “spunky” mother.
“My mom was a survivor and thriver—and I am so thankful to God that she was my mom,” she wrote. “I just want to share something that a good friend, who knew my mom since our college days, wrote to me: ‘Our mothers live on in us, with buoyant spirit!’ Oh YES!!!”
