Sydney Sweeney Repurposed Her Old Scripts In a Super Artsy Way
Sydney Sweeney has had access to a ton of TV and movie scripts in the past few years. Her performances on TV shows like Euphoria, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The White Lotus have made her one to watch. And, since she started her own production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, the actor-producer has been sent even more scripts. So what does she do with all of them when she no longer has use for them?
Actors have various ways of dealing with scripts after they no longer need to rely on them. Some choose to toss the papers out. Others, however, find ways to save the papers because they feel a sort of sentimental connection to them. Sweeney finds herself in the latter half of the camp. The Players Table producer has shared that she can’t bring herself to trash scripts from old projects. So, she found a special way to repurpose them while she was in quarantine.
Sydney Sweeney found an artistic way to repurpose her old scripts
In lockdown, Sweeney had a lot of extra time on her hands. For years, the Washington native had been working nonstop. However, when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit, production for her show, Euphoria, was put on hold. During her downtime, Sweeney threw herself into a number of projects. One of them involved making artwork out of her old scripts and turning them into a large canvas.
”This artwork behind me is a COVID project of mine,” Sweeney revealed in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. “I can’t bear to throw away old scripts, so I took the pages from the pilot and paper mache’d them onto this canvas.”
The ‘Euphoria’ star’s DIY projects include her new house and car
Longtime fans of Sweeney likely won’t find it surprising that the Sharp Objects alum found a very artistic way to repurpose her scripts. Sweeney’s penchant for DIY projects is evident in many aspects of her life. She gained attention on TikTok because she rebuilt an old Ford Bronco on her own. Furthermore, she has begun remodeling the home that she recently purchased.
Sweeney’s character books are also very artistic
But Sweeney’s artistic nature is evident in her acting preparation process as well. For each character she plays, she creates an intricate book of the full timeline of their lives. Shortly after she books a role, she heads to Michaels to get all the arts and crafts she’ll need to put it together. Then she fills the books with images, notes, quotes, magazine clippings, and more.
“I create these books for my characters,” Sweeney shared with Coveteur about her process. “You know everything about yourself; your memories, your favorite places to go eat, your favorite item of clothing. It’s all in this book. It’s pictures of the house and maps of their cities and schools and what’s in their locker. Memories of the day they are born to the first page of the script.”
Clearly, Sweeney isn’t limiting her artistry to the medium of acting. It’ll be interesting to see what she chooses to do next.
