In July, Tamar spent several days in a hospital following an attempted suicide. She was later transferred to a facility to address mental health and overcoming sexual abuse as a child. Tamar says she became upset with We TV due to months of attempting to get out of her contract.
On the day of the attempt, We TV released a trailer for her spinoff Get Ya Life, which Tamar says she was blindsided by. She also says she was not happy with her portrayal in the show.
We TV severed ties with Tamar, ending all future business dealings with her. Her inclusion on the upcoming season of Braxton Family Values will air. Get Ya Life also aired despite Tamar’s pleas to not air the show.
A trailer for the new season of Braxton Family Values was released, which includes Tamar’s mom and sisters discussing her attempt and hospitalization. In the trailer, Toni receives a call while she’s in the recording studio regarding Tamar’s condition. Towanda and Trina both say Tamar’s attempt was shocking.

Tamar’s relationship with her family was estranged prior to her hospitalization. Their relationship remains distant and it appears Tamar’s breakup with David Adefeso and her family speaking out about her personal life has made her more upset.
In the wake of We TV releasing the new trailer, Tamar is slamming the network and her sisters, alleging that they are exploiting her pain.
“After waking up to that disgusting trailer…F*CK @wetv and whomever else participating for using my pain for their pleasure and ratings,” Tamar says in a new Instagram post. Don’t miss my exclusive TELL ALL on my girl @tamronhallshow next week..at someone point this abuse HAS to STOP!! And P.S. I’M NOT FILING FOR THIS SEASON! THEY ARE DOING THIS WHILE IM NOT ON THE SHOW!!!!”
In a series of Tweets, Tamar explains that the series was not supposed to be filming while she was in the hospital and that she has not participated in any filming since December 2019.
“It’sALL re-staged for tv,” she writes. “And that’s my f***ing issue. Remember @wetv said we have parted ways in August. I am no longer employed by them and they are STILL using me and my hurt to make a coin. What show talks about old cast members?”
Season 7 of Braxton Family Values begins airing Nov 5 at 9 pm EST on We TV.
