‘Sister, Sister’ star helps restore some magic in a classic brand

Always eager to take on a project with her family, Mowry-Housley is joining forces with General Mills’ Lucky Charms. With a campaign to bring a little magic back to those coveted cereal marshmallows by singing the famed theme song, Mowry-Housley and her kids are more than happy to help out Lucky the Leprechaun. Now packaged in a separate pouch for a limited time, those magical marshmallows are within easy reach.

It was definitely a no-brainer for me to partner with Lucky Charms. I am a huge fan,” Mowry-Housley told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, raving about the new packaging for the sweet treats. “When I was younger, I would always pick out the marshmallows. I think it’s just so fantastic they do the hard work for you. It’s in a cute little pouch. … Apparently Lucky the Leprechaun, his marshmallow charms are losing their magic. … Family members across the country can sing the song and restore his magic back to his marshmallows.”

Singing with her two children, Aden and Ariah, to promote the brand, Mowry only takes on projects she truly supports. As a longtime fan of the cereal, the former Sister, Sister star was on board once she heard her kids could join in the song.

“I feel like we need some positivity and joy and magic in our lives right now,” Mowry-Housley said. “Whatever I partner with, whomever I partner with, it’s always something that I’m a fan of genuinely and that I love. When I heard that we just had to sing a song to restore the magic back with my children, come on. It’s a no brainer! And that was a fun little adventure that I got to experience with with my kids.”

Tamera Mowry-Housley keeps it real on ‘The Housley Life’

Though Mowry-Housley is no longer on The Real, authenticity is always her theme when it comes to how she presents herself and her family. With almost 8 million followers on Instagram, the former talk show host has several social media platforms including her YouTube series The Housley Life with her husband.

“You’re kind of a fly on a wall in our house,” Mowry-Housley describes their online series. “We’re very organic. We’re not, you know, dressed up. You’ll see me in a shirt and a baseball cap just being who we are. And I feel like that is what people gravitated toward.”

Housley, a former journalist, came up with the idea after posting a video of himself cooking mac and cheese earned 300,000 views. He knew including his wife and two kids in the family-themed project would attract an even bigger audience.
