Taylor Swift and Jimmy Kimmel Have the ‘Same Shame’

There’s no doubt that Taylor Swift is immensely talented. She’s a singer, songwriter, and actress. Yet, as it turns out, there is one thing Swift can’t do, and for once, her fans didn’t uncover it first.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Swift admitted there is one talent she lacks, and doesn’t like when others ask her to do it. As it turns out, Kimmel can’t do it either. So what talent has managed to elude these two powerhouses in the entertainment industry?

Taylor Swift has been in the spotlight since she was a teenager

Swift is no stranger to being at the forefront of the crowd. Her career began on the small stage of local children’s theaters where Swift learned just how comfortable she was in front of crowds. Her parents also believed in her talent, and moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee so that she could be closer to the country music scene. 

While there are millions who have moved to further their career only to end up disappointed, Swift was quickly swept up by Sony/ATV at the age of 14 as a songwriter. After performing her own songs on stage, she was signed to the Big Machine label by Scott Borchetta. 

Her first song, “Tim McGraw” was an instant hit, and Swift went on to release “You Belong With Me.” Fans loved her mixture of country and pop, and at the tender age of 16, she was the opening act for Rascal Flatts.

Taylor Swift has released two new albums

While Swift is no stranger to controversy, no one has ever accused her of being lazy. Even though many are feeling lost during COVID-19, Swift has released not one, but two albums. 

The first was titled folklore and was released in June 2020. Fans were thrilled with Swift’s latest album, and were eagerly searching for some of the Easter eggs she is well-known for hiding. 

When Swift dropped yet another album called evermore on Dec. 11, 2020, fans were shocked. Few artists have the ability to write, record, and produce albums so quickly, but Swift did it. 

It probably helps that she isn’t able to perform live concerts where the fans could come see her in person, but fans are still missing out. By releasing yet another album, Swift proved that she is just as loyal to her fans as they are to her. It also shows that she is one of the hardest working artists in the industry.

Taylor Swift can’t do what?

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Swift and Kimmel were discussing how stars may sometimes be asked to do things at parties that can become quickly annoying. Kimmel pointed out that Billy Joel was frustrated because someone always rented a piano every time he went to a party. Turns out Swift likes when others ask her to sing, but stated, “I don’t like being asked to do cartwheels at a party because I can’t do a cartwheel.” 

Kimmel replied, “Interesting that you would say that because I announced on the air just a couple weeks ago that I am going to start taking cartwheel lessons, and I am not kidding.” Kimmel went on to invite Swift to join him. She thought he was just joking, but he assured her he is very much serious. He added, “I’ve always wanted to know how to do a cartwheel. I feel humiliated when little girls do it in front of me, and I want to be able to do it.” Kimmel pivoted to another topic, to which Swift laughingly replied, “We’ll talk about this some other time because we both have the same shame.”
