Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber’s Feud Stretches Back Pretty Far
Taylor Swift has seemingly made her feelings known about Justin Bieber in recent weeks. The newlywed pop star was pulled into Swift’s drama with Scooter Braun when he took to Instagram to defend his rep’s purchase of Big Machine Records. Swift unraveled the moment news of Braun’s acquisition hit the media. She seemingly has a good reason, though. With the acquisition, Braun now owns the master recordings of Swift’s earliest hits. While Bieber and Swift’s drama seems to have been reignited, everyone forgets that these two pop stars have been frenemies for years!
Drama seemed imminent in 2013
The on-again-off-again nature of Selena Gomez’s relationship with Bieber seemingly took a toll on his friendship with Swift. According to Elite Daily, the songstress made a disgusted face when Gomez decided to great Bieber on the red carpet back in 2013.
Gomez approached Bieber with a peck on the cheek, while Swift stuck out her tongue in a display of disgust. Gomez has long been a part of Swift’s inner circle. In fact, the two songstresses seemed to be best friends during the Jelena years. Once Gomez’s relationship with Bieber soured, it seems Swift followed suit. If that’s the case, Swift’s reaction was probably all she could muster after suffering through the highs and lows of her friend’s relationship.
The feud kicked up in 2016
In August 2016, Bieber took to Instagram to weigh in on the drama between Kanye West and Swift. He simply posted a screenshot of himself, Braun and West. The caption, however, said it all. Bieber captioned the photo “Taylor Swift What Up.”
The snapshot was seemingly about the drama surrounding a song West produced that mentioned Swift. Swift insisted he didn’t have consent, but Kim Kardashian West took to social media to dismiss the allegation. She posted a recording to Swift explicitly permitting the use of her name.
The Swift drama might be causing a rift between Justin and Hailey
Bieber married Hailey Baldwin after a whirlwind romance. The pair who had briefly dated in the past rekindled their relationship in 2018 and promptly got married. The second the rings were on, rumors of trouble between the pair began to surface.
Now, it’s being reported that Bieber’s insertion into the drama between Swift and Braun has driven a wedge between the pair. According to Gossip Cop, the allegation is not valid. At least, the tension with Swift isn’t what is causing problems in the marriage.
Baldwin has run in the same circle as Swift for years, but she’s lowkey bashed the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer in the past. According to Vanity Fair, Baldwin isn’t interested in joining Swift’s squad anytime soon. In fact, the model insinuated that she has no idea why Swift feels the urge to label her friends publicly.
