Taylor Swift’s Biggest Regret Revealed: When She Put Joe Jonas ‘On Blast’ Over Breakup
Taylor Swift just got real about one of her biggest regrets — the time she totally called out the way Joe Jonas broke up with her. Back in the day, a young Swift went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and dished all about the crummy way that Jonas broke up with her.
With age comes maturity, and it seems that Swift is owning that she might have been a bit immature about the whole thing.
Taylor Swift ‘put Joe Jonas on blast’
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Swift answered the talk show host’s ‘Burning Questions,’ including one about the most rebellious thing she did as a teenager.
She told DeGeneres: “Probably when I like put Joe Jonas on blast on your show. That was too much, that was too much.” She added: “I was 18, yeah. We laugh about it now, but that was mouthy, yeah, some teenage stuff there.”
“Wow,” responded DeGeneres, adding, “That’s held onto you because I don’t remember that at all!”
During the ‘Burning Questions’ segment, Swift also revealed what she does if she can’t sleep at night, which involves late-night binge eating that she can’t remember the next day.
How did Joe Jonas break up with Taylor Swift?
For anyone looking for a refresher about how Swift called out Jonas, in a 2008 episode of Ellen, Swift spoke about the songs on her album Fearless that were about “boys and love.” DeGeneres asked at the time if any of the songs were about Jonas, who was her boyfriend at the time, and she shared the breakup details.
She noted: “There’s one [song] that’s about that guy, but that guy’s not in my life anymore, unfortunately. That’s ouch,” she said of the song “Forever and Always.”
Swift continued, “We haven’t talked since, but you know what, some day I’m gonna find somebody really, really great who’s right for me… When I look at that person, I’m not even going to be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”
She added, “Sorry, I had to.”
At the time, DeGeneres responded: “No you did not! Ah, snap,” adding, “I’m sorry to hear that and so are the millions and millions of other people that just heard that. They’re going to be so mad at him right now.”
DeGeneres tried to get Swift to reveal the name of her next single
DeGeneres also took the opportunity to ask Swift about the name of her next single but it was a no go, with Swift saying, “I can’t tell you that. That’s crazy,” refusing to sing a bit of it.
During her interview, Swift also had to shoot down the rumors that her new song “ME!” had anything to do with Avengers: Endgame, even though they were released on the same day.
She explained the fan theory that ramped up, noting: “We had the single coming out the same day, and I had a song that was called ‘Endgame,’ so they were like, ‘Oh my God, she’s gonna defeat Thanos!’ So, I let everyone down, again.”
