It wasn’t Taylor Swift’s night at the 67th annual Grammy Awards. The “Down Bad” singer was up for multiple awards and left the Feb. 2, 2025, ceremony without a single trophy. Why did Swift not win any Grammy Awards? The answer reportedly has to do with the success of her record-breaking Eras Tour and 2024 album “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Swift didn’t win any awards at the Grammys

Swift went to the Grammys at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif., as one of the night’s most-nominated artists. But as the ceremony got underway, her name wasn’t called for any of the six categories in which she was nominated.

She lost out in the Best Music Category to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Swift also lost to Lamar in the Song of the Year and Record of the Year categories.

Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet” beat out Swift’s “TTPD” for Best Pop Vocal Album. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die with a Smile” won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, in which Swift and Gracie Abrams were nominated for “Us.”

With the last award of the night, Album of the Year, Swift had one more shot to take home a Grammy. Ultimately she walked away empty-handed when Beyoncé won for “Cowboy Carter.”

Why Taylor didn’t win any Grammys: ‘share the wealth’

According to Elle UK, Swift left the Grammys without any trophies to give other artists time in the spotlight. “In a year that felt culturally bookmarked by Swift’s proliferation, the move was largely considered to be the Record Academy’s way of simply allowing other star’s work to be celebrated,” per the outlet.

“Each voter knew that Swift has amassed more album of the year wins than anyone else in Grammy history, and this year […] the board consciously decided to share the wealth.” To date, Swift has 58 Grammy nominations and 14 wins, per the Grammy’s official site

Swift isn’t the one who got snubbed by the Record Academy on music’s biggest night. So did nine-time Grammy winner Billie Eilish, who’d received several nominations this year. The same could be said for Swift’s “Fortnight” collaborator Post Malone. Despite being up for six awards, he also didn’t come out on top in any category.

Taylor Swift still had fun at the awards show

Being snubbed at the 2025 Grammys didn’t stop Swift from having a good time. In what’s become her typical awards show M.O., the 35-year-old danced the night away in the crowd and mingled with other celebs.

Cameras spotted Swift getting excited when her “Bad Blood” collaborator Kendrick Lamar. At one point during the evening, Swift recreated the viral “holding space” meme with Wicked star Cynthia Erivo. Swift also presented the Grammy for Best Country Album to Beyoncé.

So, no Grammy wins but certainly a fun night out for Swift before she’s expected in New Orleans, La., on Feb. 9, 2025, to cheer Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs on in Super Bowl LIX
