Taylor Swift Holds the Billboard Music Award Record for Most Wins by a Female Artist
This weekend, Taylor Swift is nominated for seven trophies at The Billboard Music Awards. She currently holds the title of the most awarded female artist in history at the BBMAs. The country and pop music superstar won her first award in 2011 and became the most awarded artist before the decade ended. Drake stole the title a few years ago. In 2022, will Taylor become the most awarded artist in history once again?
Taylor Swift has won 25 Billboard Music Awards
The Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) have been kind to Taylor Swift. Although she burst on the scene in 2006, Swift did not receive a nomination until 2011. That year she took home Top Country Album, Top Country Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Artist.
In 2013 and 2015, the “All Too Well” singer took home the coveted Top Artist prize. She’s won the Top Female Artist award four times and Top Billboard 200 Artist three times.
2015 was Swift’s most successful year at the BBMAs. Celebrating her album 1989 with songs like “Shake it Off,” “Blank Space,” and “Bad Blood,” Swift was awarded six trophies. She has been on a roll ever since. By 2019, she was the most awarded artist of all time before Drake passed her with 29 wins.
Taylor Swift could pass Drake as the artist with the most wins at the Billboard Music Awards
On Sunday night, Swift is nominated for seven BBMA’s, including Top Artist. As it stands now, she is only four awards behind record-holder Drake. The “One Dance” rapper currently has 29 Billboard Music Awards.
Drake will go head to head with Swift this year for Top Artist. He is also nominated for 10 other awards, including Male Artist, Rap Artist, Rap Song, and Billboard 200 Artist.
Although both artists have many nominations, The Weeknd reigns supreme for 2022 with 17 chances to take home a Billboard Music Award. Doja Cat is close behind him with 14 nominations. Olivia Rodrigo, Kanye “Ye” West, and Justin Bieber all have 13 nominations.
Swift and Drake will face Doja Cat, The Weekend, and Olivia Rodrigo in the Top Artist category.
