Taylor Swift is the recipient of multiple awards and honors. Since her introduction to fans as a young aspiring country singer, Swift has steadily risen in popularity. A few of her iconic songs include “Shake It Off,” “Our Song,” “Love Story,” “Willow,” “Lover,” and “Look What You Made Me Do.”

While Swift has long interacted with her fans on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, it is only recently that the artist decided to make her TikTok debut — choosing a rather surprising song to highlight her first post on the platform.

Taylor Swift’s music has connected with millions of people around the world. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that young fans and creators everywhere have utilized Swift’s songs for their TikTok videos. From clever pop classics like “Look What You Made Me Do” to her most recent hits like “Lover,” any fan scanning the TikTok platform is bound to find one of Swift’s songs used as a backdrop for creators’ pranks and lip-sync moments.

A trend that swept the platform in July 2020 featured thousands of content creators using Swift’s 2008 song “Love Story” as the chosen song for a stunt that involved creators placing their phone on moving platforms like a car or skateboard and letting it roll away — and dancing to the song all the while. As reported by Junkee, nearly 900,000 TikTok videos used the song in a timespan of just a few weeks, proving that Swift’s effect on the platform is genuinely extraordinary.

What song did Taylor Swift use in her first TikTok video?

In August 2021, after months of speculation, Taylor Swift herself finally joined TikTok. In her very first post, Swift announced that the vinyl version of Red (Taylor’s Version) is available for preorder, captioning the video, “Lots going on at the moment: Red (my version) vinyl is up for presale on my site, and oh I’m on TikTok now let the games begin 😺 #SwiftTok.”

The imaginative clip featured Swift changing into different outfits to represent different versions of her style over the years, from country-western dresses to menswear chic, each look corresponding to each one of her hit albums — but interestingly enough, the song that Swift used in her first TikTok wasn’t one of her tunes. As reported by Seventeen, Swift chose to lip-sync to “Screwface Capital” by MC Dave, even bopping along to the line “My outstanding payments swift like Taylor.”
