Taylor Swift Is Reportedly Working on a New Album Inspired by Travis Kelce and Blake Lively
Get excited, Swifties, because Taylor Swift reportedly has a new album in the works. The Grammy winner has been writing new songs for a while, according to an insider. (TBH, when is Swift not writing songs?) The “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer is said to be taking inspiration from her relationships. Not just boyfriend, Travis Kelce, but her friendship with Blake Lively, too.
A new Taylor Swift album is in ‘development,’ late 2025 release expected
Speaking to the U.K.’s Express, a source opened up about Swift’s new album. Apparently, it’s quietly been in the works for a while. The 35-year-old is said to have begun writing during her record-breaking Eras Tour that wrapped in early December 2024.
“Taylor is in the development stages of her new album which will be released at the end of the year,” a source at the entertainment company AEG told the outlet. “She wrote songs backstage on her last tour and bosses at AEG have been told to prepare themselves for another tour in 2026.”
The insider continued, saying Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Swift began dating in the summer of 2023, is a source of inspiration. As is Lively.
“People who have heard some of the ideas say it’s inspired by a lot of what she’s been through,” they said. “Including her relationship with Travis and changes in her friendships, specifically Blake Lively.”
Swift is reportedly distancing herself from the Gossip Girl alum amid her very public and ugly legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Meanwhile, a previous report claimed Swift’s next tour depends on how 2025 goes for her and Kelce.
Taylor has songs about Travis Kelce on her 2024 album

While Kelce’s said to be the inspiration behind Swift’s new album it’s nothing new for the three-time Super Bowl winner. Kelce is believed to be the inspiration behind two tracks from “The Tortured Poets Department” (TTPD). Although she doesn’t mention him by name anywhere in her 2024 album, various clues are sprinkled in the songs.
First up is “The Alchemy,” track no. 15. It has sports jargon and an apparent reference to Kelce’s 2024 Super Bowl win. Some of the lyrics include “Call the amateurs and Cut ‘em from the team,” “touch down,” and “warm the benches.”
As for Kelce’s Super Bowl win, which Swift was there to witness before they kissed on the field, she writes in the song: “Where’s the trophy?/ He just comes running over to me.”
In “So High School,” track no. 22 on TTPD, Swift seemingly refers to a 2016 interview of Kelce’s. In it, the NFL star played a game of “Kiss, Marry, Kill” and picked her to kiss. She sings “Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me? (Kill me)/ It’s just a game, but really (really)/I’m bettin’ on all three for us two (all three).”
Elsewhere, she seemingly makes references to his “crinkling eye” and football skills. “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.” She also references Kelce’s dad, Ed Kelce, with the lyric, “Do that impression you did of your dad again.” Kelce, for his part, has impersonated his dad multiple times on “New Heights,” the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.
Blake Lively has been part of 3 of Swift’s recent albums

As for Lively, she’s been involved in some way on two of Swift’s albums. Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ now-10-year-old daughter, James, can be heard saying, “Gorgeous,” as the track of the same name begins on Swift’s 2017 “reputation” album.
The Grammy winner also named characters on her 2020 “folklore” album after the couple’s three daughters’—James, Inez, and Betty—and one song, “Betty.”
Additionally, Lively directed Swift’s music video for “I Bet You Think About Me,” a vault track from Swift’s 2021 “Red (Taylor’s Version)” album. Lively also co-wrote the treatment for the video with Swift.
