Taylor Swift’s Plans to Attend Chiefs Games This Season Are Getting More Secretive—Here’s Why
Taylor Swift is back to cheering for her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs with the return of NFL football. But don’t expect to know when the Grammy winner will be at Arrowhead Stadium. As the season gets underway, Swift’s reportedly keeping her plans for which games she’ll attend under wraps for security reasons.
Swift’s security doesn’t want her movements known after Eras tour terror attack attempt
The “Down Bad” songstress attended Kelce’s first game of the season on Sept. 5, 2024, in Kansas City, Mo., at Arrowhead Stadium. Her attendance wasn’t exactly a surprise to fans since she attended many of Kelce’s games last season. But, it’s important to note that Swift is known for not confirming her attendance ahead of time.
That wasn’t the case with the Chiefs season opener. Ahead of the game, The Athletic revealed Swift was set to attend. The outlet quoted “a source briefed on the security arrangements at Arrowhead Stadium.” An insider has since told Page Six that the leak angered Swift’s team.
“She has presidential-level security,” the outlet’s source said. “After Austria, her security firm is not too happy that her whereabouts are out.”
In August 2024, Swift’s Eras tour stop in Vienna, Austria, became the target of a foiled terrorist plot. As a result, shows were canceled, and her security heightened.
Swift’s heightened security hasn’t slowed down her and Kelce’s public appearances
The couple shows no signs of staying in more since the attempted terror attack plot. As mentioned above, Swift was there to support Kelce in his first game of the season before the two headed to New York.
They were seen going out to dinner numerous times while Swift’s on a break from touring. (Shows resume in mid-October.) Kelce and Swift also arrived hand-in-hand at Electric Lady Studios for a wedding before going to the U.S. Open final alongside Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes.
Taylor impressed Travis by arriving at a Chiefs game ‘through the front door’ in 2023
Kelce was impressed by the “Fortnight” singer’s desire to experience Chiefs games without special treatment. He previously told the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast that’s how Swift “really won me over.”
“The first game she came to against the Bears, I was like…’I could probably set you up with everything,’” he said. “And she just walked right through the front door. There’s no like going down, talking to security that she gets to her.”
“She was just like, ‘I just want to be around the family and friends and experience this with everybody,’” he recalled. “I was like, ‘Damn. She’s in the madness, man. She wants to support me and do things like that.’ I was like, ‘Man, she really won me over with that one.’”
Swift went on to watch Kelce 13 times as he played for the Chiefs during the 2023-2024 season, culminating in the team’s Super Bowl win, where the couple celebrated on the field.
