‘Teen Mom 2’: Kailyn Lowry Opens Up About Jo Rivera Cheating On Her While Pregnant With Isaac
Kailyn Lowry had her first son with her high school boyfriend Jo Rivera.
Lowry has said before that she and Rivera had a rocky relationship from the beginning. But things really got bumpy for them when the reality star began to suspect that her boyfriend was being unfaithful to her.

At the time, Lowry was living in Rivera’s family’s basement, where she planned to raise their child. Things had been tense between the couple ever since 16 and Pregnant began filming.
In her 2014 book Pride Over Pity, Lowry writes about finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her while she was pregnant with their son.
“Things with Jo were not going so well. He had been working late nights at Taco Bell and had taken a shift to the shady side. He was spending less time at home and seemed to be skipping out on his classes at Northampton Community College. I began to worry that he was doing something other than going to work or school when he left the house. I suspected he might be having an affair with one of his coworkers,” she wrote.
Lowry was so paranoid she began to make a habit of showing up at Rivera’s place of work in an attempt to catch him in the act.
“I wanted to catch them doing something explicit enough that I could at least have some closure and know that I wasn’t losing my mind. This time, I decided to confront Jo and his coworker directly, but they sat me down and denied anything was going on between them. I had no solid proof besides Jo’s sketchy behavior to go on, so I left,” she wrote.
Still, Lowry had a nagging feeling that Rivera and his coworker weren’t being honest. So she looked through her boyfriend’s phone.
“There was definitely a problem. Jo never wanted to spend time with me anymore or he would use sleep as an excuse to avoid me. I didn’t want to resort to looking through his phone, but I was at the breaking point, so I searched it. His coworker’s name and number came up in texts and calls,” she shared.
Jo Rivera admitted to cheating
Finally, Lowry confronted Rivera during an OB appointment.
“Obviously, the doctor’s office isn’t a very appropriate place to have that kind of confrontation, but Jo was never around anymore and I felt like this was my only opportunity to find out the truth,” she explained.
There, Rivera admitted that he’d been seeing someone else.
“He had even gone so far as to put his uniform on when he went out and bring his regular clothes in a bag so I would think he was working when he was really meeting up with her,” she wrote.
Lowry was “completely heartbroken.”
“I felt duped, cheated, and humiliated,” she wrote.
Eventually, the problem solved itself when Rivera’s mother got him a job installing copy and fax machines in New Jersey.
“Not only did it put an end to the affair, Jo was now receiving a higher pay and benefits and his hours were earlier and more regular,” she wrote.
Later down the line, Lowry says she and Rivera broke up because they “outgrew” each other.
“You simply outgrow some people. Jo and I were no different. He was a good person. We just were not made for each other,” she wrote in her 2016 book Hustle & Heart.
