‘Teen Mom 2′: Kailyn Lowry Opens up More About Deciding Against an Abortion–’I Told People I Had Miscarried’

Kailyn Lowry had her fourth child, Creed, on July 30, 2020. But she wasn’t always sure she was going to keep the baby. In a recent episode of Teen Mom 2, Lowry opened up about considering an abortion.

Why Kailyn Lowry decided against having an abortion

Lowry initially didn’t tell her three sons that she was pregnant again because she “just [didn’t] believe” it was really happening.

“I did consider abortion and I went to my abortion appointment, but I had the ultrasound and was just like, ‘I need to see the ultrasound to see if I connect with this baby,'” she said in a confessional.

“At that point, I decided that abortion wasn’t for me,” Lowry continued, tearing up. “It’s kind of been like a weird time. I truly can’t picture it. I never felt this way about a pregnancy. When I got pregnant with Lux, I never even thought twice about keeping him. Now, moving forward, this is the decision that I’ve made — is to keep this baby — and so I just need to put my big girl pants on and figure it out.”

Lowry had been so sure that she was going to get an abortion that she told people she had miscarried.

“It’s crazy because I told people I had miscarried because I was going to get the abortion,” she told one of her friends. “I panicked, I sh*t myself. I actually felt worse and more guilty now, with this pregnancy, and more just questioning if I’m doing the right thing more-so with this one at 27 than with Isaac at 17. The circumstances are very, very, very, very different.”

Kailyn Lowry is thankful for the support of Jo, Vee, and Javi

Lowry kept quiet about her fourth pregnancy for as long as she could. But she did tell Jo Rivera, Vee (his wife), and Javi Marroquin.

“I told Javi I was pregnant and he was very supportive and very nice about it and so was Jo,” she said. “Once I told Jo, Vee, and Javi, it was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I felt relieved that I told them.”

At first, Lowry told Javi that she was going to have an abortion. When she changed her mind, he remained supportive.

“He was like, ‘Congratulations,’ he wasn’t like, ‘Oh, so you lied,'” she said.

Lowry says she knows not everyone will “understand” her decision. But she’s thankful Rivera, his wife, and Marroquin were there for her when she needed them.

“They are decisions, they are up to me and I have to be OK with the backlash and the misunderstandings,” she said. “But Jo, Javi, and Vee reacted in a way that was more supportive than I could have imagined and I’m thankful for that.”
