‘Teen Mom’: Kailyn Lowry Gives an Update on Her Relationship With Chris Lopez

Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry has always had a contentious relationship with Chris Lopez. While they split just before their first son, Lux, was born, they just had their second child, Creed, together on July 30. Lowry and Lopez were not on great terms leading up to Creed’s birth. But Lowry did end up inviting the baby’s father over for the delivery and even gave their son his last name. Here’s where Lowry and Lopez stand today.

Lowry has said on multiple occasions that she wishes Lopez was more supportive when she was pregnant with Lux and just after she gave birth to their first child.

“Even the responsibility for all of the baby formula was left up to me,” she wrote in her book, A Letter of Love. “I kind of knew that this would be a possibility, but I guess I just wanted to be proved wrong. Is it too much to ask if the baby needs anything? Whether we were on good or bad terms, Chris could have at least asked if I needed help.”

Eventually, Lowry felt it best to remove Lopez from the picture.

“I didn’t wake up one morning and decide that I was going to cut Chris out of our lives. There are reasons why I feel the way that I do. Just because he has a biological connection to the baby, doesn’t mean he’s best for the baby. I do all of the hard work; I’m up with him at all hours of the night. I’m bringing him everywhere I go,” she wrote.

Lowry continued: “Why should I give up my holidays or other milestones with our child? I shouldn’t because I take on all of the responsibilities; therefore, I feel like I should get all of the rewards.”

Lowry initially did not want to invite Lopez to the birth of Creed. Once again, she felt he was completely absent during her pregnancy with their child. In the end, she changed her mind and gave him a call the day she gave birth. Along with giving Creed Lopez’s last name, she hoped the gesture would inspire the father of her child to be more present. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.

In an interview with The Domenick Nati Show on Aug. 31, Lowry said that she hasn’t heard from Lopez since Creed was born and he’s only seen their son once since the birth.

“We don’t communicate at all,” Lowry told Nati. “I don’t remember the last time I heard from him. He hasn’t seen Creed since he was born, maybe a couple days after. He saw him when he was born then shortly thereafter, and he hasn’t seen him since.”

Lowry also told Nati that she’s “on an indefinite hiatus” when it comes to her dating life.

“I don’t have any plans to date in the near future because my life is pure chaos,” she said. “Creed has me up at all hours of the night. My kids need me. We’ve got virtual school coming up. Dating is not on my radar at all.”
