Catelynn Lowell spoke with E! News recently about her adoption journey and where she stands with Carly’s adoptive parents. In her chat, Lowell revealed that the Davises had opted to close the adoption and banned her and her husband, Tyler Baltierra, from contacting their biological child. At the time, Lowell made it seem like she was unsure why the relationship had changed so drastically. A trailer for the upcoming episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter tells a different story.
In the trailer, Catelynn reveals that Teresa Davis had contacted her and told her that she and her husband, Brandon, found online comments made about them to be hurtful. She let Catelynn know that she would no longer be responding. From there, the Davises blocked the couple.
Teresa also contacted the adoption agency involved. She informed the adoption counselor they worked with that the family no longer wished to have any contact with Tyler and Catelynn and did not want them sending anything else to their home. In a message to the counselor, she called Tyler and Catelynn’s behavior “out of control” and “inappropriate.”
The couple’s adoption journey has been problematic
While Carly’s adoptive parents have finally set a clear boundary by ending the relationship, it is not the first sign of trouble. Catelynn, Tyler, and the Davises have had several battles over the years. MTV has chronicled their sometimes contentious connection.
Initially, the drama seemed exclusively created by Tyler Baltierra’s refusal to accept the limits the Davises set to protect their child’s privacy. He even once suggested he’d be willing to give up contact with Carly if it meant he could continue his social media tirades.
The trouble began around 2015 when Tyler shared a photo from a meetup on social media. The Davises had previously asked that pictures of Carly not be shared on social media. While Tyler and Catelynn agreed to the rule, Tyler changed his mind. At the time, he claimed he had a right to share his story, including pictures of his biological child. He later questioned why the couple would agree to adopt Carly only to place stipulations around photos and videos.
Since then, they’ve had moments of relative calm and bitter fights. The most recent disagreement over how they are being talked about online was the final straw for the Davises. The couple has not spoken to the media. It is unclear if they’ll ever tell their side of the story.
