Houston native Travis Scott has courted controversy several times throughout his music career. He’s also launched the Cactus Jack Foundation in 2020 to aid underprivileged youth through education, creative resources, and community initiatives. Rooted in his connection to Space City, Scott’s foundation provides opportunities in education, arts, and sports, ensuring young people have access to tools that can help them succeed.

In 2021, after a devastating winter storm hit Texas, the Cactus Jack Foundation partnered with the city of Houston to provide emergency relief. The nonprofit offered shelter, food, and financial aid to affected residents. Scott also hosts charity events, like his annual celebrity softball game, to raise funds for community projects, as the Cactus Jack website details. With so many connections in the entertainment industry, the “SICKO MODE” rapper was able to put together an all-star roster of music artists and athletes for his 2025 game.

Many of the celebs took to social media to share behind-the-scenes glimpses of the Softball Classic festivities held at the Astros’ Daikin Park. Amber Rose shared a video of the stars doing shots in the locker room before the game. Tyla shared a snap of herself in the dugout enjoying a hot dog and Sprite. The packed stadium watched as the celebrities mingled with MLB stars like Jose Canseco, CJ Stroud, and Robinson Canó.

Before the 2025 Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic, the Cactus Jack and Houston Astros hosted 60 kids to kick off Cactus Jack’s Community Action Week, a series of events for the city of Houston ahead of the third annual HBCU Classic.

Another one of the foundation’s flagship programs is the Cactus Jack HBCU Scholarship. This financial aid package helps students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Scott, whose parents both attended HBCUs, created the scholarship to support students facing financial barriers.

Scott and the Cactus Jack Foundation are also embarking on a larger partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund. The Cactus Jack Design Ethos 101 Program will award two students with $10,000 each and mentorship. The initiative is an online program that features a curriculum created by the Cactus Jack team and its partners. Additionally, multiple recipients will participate in an immersive experience at the Cactus Jack Design Center in Houston.
