There’s one common question that so many fans can’t figure out the answer to: Do celebrities really use the products they promote?

Most everyone knows that the main motivation behind product endorsement is getting paid. But for someone like Joanna Gaines, is there more to it than just making extra money? Does she really love the items in her multiple product lines?

We may never know the true answer to that. But we can assume that the Gaines family doesn’t use any Hearth & Hand Christmas décor at their farmhouse based on one specific comment she said regarding her holiday decorating rules.

Joanna Gaines always uses the same method for decorating

This year, fans were surprised to see Gaines setting up her Christmas tree before Thanksgiving. But this move makes total sense considering how much she loves following traditions of the holiday season.

“It’s rare for me to get excited about a new holiday recipe or trendy ideas for decorating the tree,” Gaines shared in her magazine, Magnolia Journal. “I’m not looking for ways to reinvent this season. Instead, all I want is to gather the same ingredients for the same beloved cinnamon rolls that I’ve baked on Christmas morning for as long as I can remember.”

She doesn’t buy new stuff every year

Fixer Upper fans know exactly how much Gaines loves repurposing old items instead of buying new stuff. She’s frequently shown visiting flea markets and vintage stores rather than just buying everything new.

And that’s why it’s unlikely Gaines would ever use Hearth & Hand ornaments, wreaths, or other trimmings to get her personal farmhouse holiday ready.

“I want to decorate our tree with our same ornaments that we ooh and ahh over each year,” she said. “Our tree could never be complete without the kids’ handmade offerings. And while the Popsicle-stick picture frames have cracked over the years, and the photos within them have faded—it only makes me love them all the more.”

Hearth & Hand exemplifies Gaines’ style

Even though she’s unlikely to have and Hearth & Hand merchandise in her own home, Gaines does personally design the items in the collection. That’s why they all share that coveted farmhouse chic aesthetic that fans can’t get enough of.

And if you want your house to smell like a Fixer Upper dream, she’s also got a collection of highly coveted candles to really set the mood for the holiday season.

She’s looking forward to sharing the traditions with her youngest family members

There are plenty of big changes ahead for Chip and Joanna Gaines as they embark on a new adventure launching their new television network. But for this holiday season, Gaines is slowing down and appreciating special holiday time as a family.

In 2018, she shared how important it was to share Christmas traditions with baby Crew. “I hope he’ll see that we’re not looking for new and improved. But rather we’re taking the best parts of every Christmas past and unpacking them for Christmas present,” Gaines wrote.

“That we celebrate this season not based on circumstance but based on hope. A hope that’s so thrilling, even a weary world can rejoice.”
