You may also be wondering whether Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, Stacey, Dawn. Mallory, and Jessi will be back for a third season. Here’s what we know so far.
Netflix hasn’t made an announcement about ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ Season 3
The new season of The Baby-Sitters Club has only just been released, so it’s not a huge surprise that Netflix hasn’t made any announcements about whether they plan to bring it back for a third season.
After the first season premiered in July 2020, it took Netflix a few months to renew the show. Fans may need to patient while they wait for news of season 3.
‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ cast is growing up, which could be a problem
Show with young casts can face challenges when actors age faster than the character they portray on screen. Series creator Rachel Shukert acknowledged that The Baby-Sitters Club cast won’t be able to play middle-schoolers forever, which means the number of seasons the show can do will likely be limited.
“It does put a little bit of a timestamp on the show, because I don’t know that we’re going to follow them into college or anything like that,” she said in an interview with TVLine. “These books, for me, I was such a giant Baby-Sitters Club fan as a kid, and they’re the most important thing in your life for two or three years, and then you age out and another generation finds them. So there’s this very specific, jewel-like quality to these books and to this show that exists in this finite period of time, and that’s something that we’re all sort of OK with.”
‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ Season 3 could address this big story from the books
The Baby-Sitters Club is based on a long-running series of books by Ann M. Martin. One major storyline in the early books involves Stacey’s parents’ divorce. In season 2, there were signs that things weren’t going well in the McGill’s marriage. Shukert said that if season 3 happens, their divorce will likely be covered.
“There are children of divorce and children of single parents on the show, obviously, but we haven’t shown what that actually feels like, to go through it in real time,” she said.
In Martin’s books, Stacey first moves back to New York City with her parents before returning to Stoneybrook after they split up. But Shukert isn’t sure if they’ll keep that part of the original story in the show.
“I don’t know,” she said. “I don’t want to lose Stacey!”
The Baby-Sitters Club Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix.
