‘The Bachelor’ Alums Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon — How They Went From ‘BIP’ Disaster to Happily Married
On May 22, 2018, Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon shocked fans when they announced they were dating in an episode of KineticTV’s The Story of Us. The announcement followed years of up-and-downs following their first meeting in Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise.
Since then, Iaconetti and Haibon have adopted a dog, married, and announced they are planning to start a family. In the episode of The Story of Us, Iaconetti and Haibon explained how their stable relationship came to be.
Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon met on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’
Iaconetti was a contestant on Chris Soules’ season of The Bachelor and Haibon appeared on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette. The two then met on Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise which aired in 2015.
“I remember walking down the steps in Paradise and seeing him at the bar and it was the weirdest feeling. I was just so gravitated and drawn to him. It was truly love at first sight,” Iaconetti said in The Story of Us.
While Iaconetti was incredibly interested in Haibon, the feeling was not mutual at the time. The two ended things and both left the second season of Bachelor in Paradise single.
Things were complicated between the two
Following Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise, Iaconetti and Haibon struck up a complicated friendship. After spending some time together with mutual friends, Iaconetti asked Haibon to take part in a charity event she was putting on.
The event took place in October 2015, and things became more complicated between them as Haibon found himself torn about his feelings for Iaconetti.
“It was such a different experience being with somebody in the show and then in real life,” he said in The Story of Us. “I think that charity event was the first time I saw you in your element with your family and your friends…”
“I knew he was looking at me and it was showing to him too,” Iaconetti added.
“Oh I wanted you that night,” Haibon said.
The two continued hanging out and eventually went on a date, but Haibon ended their romantic relationship. When they appeared on Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2016, Iaconetti struggled with her feelings for Haibon. While both of them tried to move on from each other, they both left the season single.

Bachelor: Winter Games aired in February 2018, and Iaconetti appeared on the TV show while Haibon appeared on Bachelor in Paradise: Australia. On Bachelor: Winter Games, Iaconetti met and fell for Kevin Wendt.
This made Haibon realize his feelings for her. Following their annual trip to St. Lucia with Jade Tolbert and Tanner Tolbert in 2018, he kissed Iaconetti and confessed how he felt. Despite Haibon’s confession, Iaconetti continued to date Wendt until March 2018.
“I did not cheat on Kevin. I ended the relationship because it had run its course. And then, Jared was still there,” Iaconetti said.

Iaconetti and Haibon announced they were dating in May 2018 and Haibon proposed to Iaconetti just a few months later. The two were engaged in June 2018 during a special appearance on Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise. Their engagement aired on ABC in September 2018.
Following their engagement, the couple adopted a dog together. The two then married in August 2019. In 2020, Iaconetti announced that she and Haibon were planning to try and have children within the next year.
