The Bachelor franchise has certainly gone through many changes since it premiered back in 2002. Though it started out as an odd social experiment for one person to find love, it has since spiraled into something completely different. Though love is still the focus of the franchise (at least outwardly) the franchise has found mass appeal by using the drama and overproducing moments. But, one thing that has remained constant throughout all of the seasons is Chris Harrison.

The Bachelor has managed to achieve longevity despite being on the air for 18 years. The reality show and its subsequent spinoffs: The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad, The Bachelor Winter Games, The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart, The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever! and everyone’s favorite, Bachelor in Paradise have all managed to ensnare millions of loyal fans called Bachelor Nation. Though the premises of the shows differ, Harrison has been the host for each and every one of them.

Chris Harrison is a staple in ‘The Bachelor’ franchise

In many ways, Harrison has become the face of the franchise. While the leads of the show vary from season to season, Harrison has become the paternal figure who is able to guide both the contestants and the audience along their way. He seems to be always there to lend an ear to leads who are struggling and promise the audience that they are in for “the most dramatic season ever.” Furthermore, Harrison has all but perfected the poker face. In his 18 years with The Bachelor franchise, he has never once given away an ending.

Being a permanent member of Bachelor Nation has certainly worked out for Harrison. Though he often jokes that he’s not quitting hosting the franchise because he has two kids to put through college, his net worth tells a different story. Because of his time on The Bachelor, Harrison is a multimillionaire and could retire tomorrow if he wanted to. But, with such a sweet gig, it’s unlikely that he’ll stop anytime soon.

‘The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!’

Though fans of The Bachelor are pretty diehard, it’s rare to find fans who have watched since the beginning and still continue to this day. Perhaps this is why so many fans were shocked to see Harrison during his very first season of The Bachelor. Thanks to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, ABC is re-airing old seasons of the show in a segment called The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever! while filming for the main shows are delayed. Today, July 6, 2020, the show is traveling back in time to its first season.
