‘The Bachelor’: Creator Mike Fleiss Drops Major Hints About Next Bachelor, Here’s Who It Could Be
Bachelor in Paradise may have just gotten started but already people are wondering who the next Bachelor will be. Previously, fans had to wait until the end of Bachelor in Paradise to find out about the next lead on The Bachelor. But recently, the franchise has been doing things a bit differently and announcing things seemingly whenever they feel like it. Creator Mike Fleiss recently alluded to who the next Bachelor will be.
What did Mike Fleiss say about the next Bachelor?
Fleiss loves to drop hints about all things Bachelor related. Last week, he tweeted several things about the next potential Bachelor.
“All I can tell you right now is that #BachelorNation will be very happy! Well, maybe not everybody… #TheBachelor,” he wrote on Aug. 17.
At the time, rumors had been floating around that Greg Grippo from Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette would be the next Bachelor, but Fleiss seemingly shot those down.
“Major announcement regarding #TheBachelor!!! No official decision has been made… Stay tuned,” he wrote before promoting a beer company.
Despite saying that no choice had been made, Fleiss did reveal something about the next lead.
“Our casting choice for your next #TheBachelor will unite #BachelorNation and solve all of the world’s problems…” he said.
Who could be the lead on ‘The Bachelor’ Season 26
Given that Fleiss said that the next Bachelor would unite the world, we can guess that they will steer clear of controversial/villain picks. So, people like Thomas Jacobs, who made it obvious that they wanted to be the Bachelor, probably won’t make the cut.
Andrew Spencer from Thurston’s season was a fan favorite but in an interview on Bachelor Happy Hour, he revealed that he wouldn’t want the role.
“After knowing all of the stuff that comes with it, probably no,” he said of whether he would accept an offer to be the Bachelor. “I would love the chance to find a girl through that process. I would love that but I hate everything that comes with it. I hate people deep diving into my life.”
In recent seasons, The Bachelor has been on the hunt to make their casts more diverse and put more people of color in lead roles. Last season saw Matt James as the first Black Bachelor in the history of the show. If the franchise wants to continue in that vein, they might continue looking at more of the POC candidates.
Joe Park was also a fan favorite on Clare Crawley/Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette. When he was eliminated, fans immediately wanted him to be the next lead. Now, Park will appear on Bachelor in Paradise. When asked in 2020 if he would take on the lead role, he said he hoped to already be in a relationship before that time came.
“I would hope I don’t have to answer that question, but it’s very flattering,” he told Entertainment Tonight of whether he would accept.
When will the lead be announced?
Normally, the lead is announced sometime after Bachelor in Paradise. This gives production some time to see how the audience reacts to each of the men on Paradise and allows new fan favorites to emerge.
