ABC’s The Bachelor Season 29 shows Grant Ellis’ journey to find love. Fans were first introduced to Grant on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette, and they fell in love with his genuine, good-hearted nature. Unfortunately, rumors are swirling that Grant only became the next lead to push his budding music career. Here’s how he responded to the claims after dropping a song available to stream.

‘The Bachelor’ Season 29 lead Grant Ellis defended his choice to make his music available to stream

The Bachelor Season 29 lead Grant Ellis has quickly become one of fans’ all-time favorite leads. Grant is a day trader and previously played professional basketball. He discusses his love of music in the first few episodes of his season, even rapping and playing piano on his dates.

Grant dropped a new song, “Party girl,” on Spotify and used a photo of him from the franchise as the cover art. Unfortunately, he’s getting backlash from fans who think he’s using the reality series as a way to launch himself into the entertainment industry. He spoke in defense of his choice to release the song while on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.

“I think it’s possible to look for love and have interests,” Grant said. “Maybe the timing wasn’t the best, I thought night one is like a party; it’s just my vibe. I’m somebody who just likes to have fun. I’m creative, and that’s just me. So, it’s not like I’m there for the wrong reasons. I think people throw that around so much, but I think you can have both … I think music’s something that’s really fun … but no, it’s not a goal or intention of mine at all.”

Grant added that he’s “really happy” with what he does for a living. “I do like karaoke and getting in the studio, making a song … but I’m not pursuing a music career,” he said, adding that fans don’t have to “worry” about him “dropping any more singles.”

Grant Ellis said he knows people will ‘doubt’ him no matter what he chooses

The Bachelor Season 29 lead Grant Ellis claims he has no interest in furthering a potential music career. However, he knows he’ll receive negative comments from outsiders no matter what he chooses. He spoke on The Jennifer Hudson Show about how he stays “consistent” through the chapters of his career and life.

“I think the one thing that’s consistent through all different platforms is perseverance, you know?” Grant told Jennifer Hudson. “People are going to doubt you. You have to stay confident, and you have to stay persistent, and you have to believe in yourself no matter what anybody says, because nobody’s gonna believe in yourself more than you.”

The host asked Grant about his music career. “I’m not the best,” he admitted. “I’m a creative person, so I just like to express myself through creativity, whether it’s dancing, or music, or poetry, anything.” He then joked about his talent. “If you have a couple drinks, I sound better,” he laughed.

He said he had ‘absolutely zero hesitations’ about becoming ‘The Bachelor’

Despite the backlash over his music single, Grant Ellis told the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast that he had “absolutely zero hesitations” over becoming the next lead of The Bachelor.

“When people can handpick, you know, your potential partner for you based on certain things and then you get to sift through and see which woman is for you, which woman is not, who wouldn’t love to do that?” he admitted. “So, I’m blessed, and I’m in a great situation.”

Grant added that he feels “grateful” for the experience, as he was excited for ABC to help him find his future wife.

“When I was called, I just expressed gratitude, and I said, ‘Of course. Of course, I’ll take the role,'” he said. “‘If you guys are going to help me find my wife, I’m excited about that.'”
