‘The Bachelor’: How Peter Weber Handles Major Heartbreak
Peter Weber has had a dramatic season of The Bachelor, and by the looks of the previews, it’s only going to ramp up as we approach the finale.
In a recent interview with former bachelor Nick Viall on The Viall Files, Weber opened up about how he handles heartbreak.
“When I invest I go 100% all-in. I’m proud of that, like, I love that quality about me. But, man, when it doesn’t work it destroys me,” said the pilot.
He spoke about the first time he got his heart broken (moving away from his high school girlfriend), and he spoke about the biggest heartbreak of his life with a woman he was with on and off for three years.
Weber explained he broke off the relationship for the third and final time, and that he took it really hard.
“I never thought it’d be that way because my heart was so into her and I was so invested in her. Thank God the third time I actually got the strength to realize, no, this is not working anymore and move on,” he said.
How Peter Weber heals a broken heart
He coped by listening to the Love Guru’s podcast on how to get over heartbreak.
“I was so heartbroken through this I couldn’t really talk to anyone. I couldn’t think of a girl for like four or five months after when I ended it. But I was still heartbroken. Man, I’m such a dork, man. I would literally, from my house, whenever I’d go fly a trip out of LAX, it’s about 45 minutes to an hour commute, I’d put [the Love Guru’s] podcast on about how to get over heartbreak, listen to them on repeat. And that’s what got me through. But it took me forever. It takes me a long time to get over stuff,” he said.
Additionally, Weber says he leans on his “family and friends like crazy.”
“I lean on my family and friends like crazy and just talk to them for hours about the same things. And I’ll repeat it over and over,” he said.
Weber calls heartbreak “one of the most miserable feelings.”
“That’s why I’m so grateful to have this opportunity. Truly, I love love so much. It’s the greatest feeling in the world I feel like anyone can feel. But when it doesn’t work out, it’s one of the most miserable feelings of having to get over that. You truly feel like it’s never gonna get better, until that day that it does,” he said.
What Peter Weber has learned about surviving breakups
However, since his worst heartbreak (the one with the woman he was with for three years), Weber says breakups have been a little easier on him. Now, he knows he’ll survive.
“[Heartbreak] has been easier for me. She wasn’t my last heartbreak. I had to deal with stuff with Hannah Brown, too. I think, yeah, you just get more and more resilient. That’s just part of growing up and becoming more mature with relationships and your love life. I don’t think I’ve ever necessarily felt that kind of pain again that I felt with her, the one from the three years. I’ve had amazing relationships since then but, yeah, I think you just get more resilient,” he said.
Does Peter Weber get his heart broken at the end of his Bachelor season? Hopefully not, but if he does, he’ll always have the Love Guru to get him through.
