‘The Bachelor’: It Took Peter Weber and Madison Prewett Six Hours to Breakup
Peter Weber had some of the most heartwrenching breakups on his season of The Bachelor. The reason that they were so tragic is that most of them were completely avoidable. Weber’s indecisiveness and refusal to stand up to his parents led to him having one of the worst seasons in Bachelor history. Though Weber went through a lot to be with Madison Prewett, he ultimately ended up alone. So, what happened that led to the couple’s demise?
How did Peter and Madison end up together?
Prewett and Weber had a long road to get to one another. Cracks started to show in their relationship during the Fantasy Suites when Prewett told Weber that if he was intimate with any of the other women, she would have a hard time staying in the competition. Eventually, Prewett ended up sending herself home. Without Prewett there, Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss. But just a month later, he called off their engagement. During the “After the Final Rose” special, Weber and Prewett said that they were together and going to try to make things work.
They shocked fans when they announced their breakup just two short days after announcing that they were together.
“I want to start by acknowledging the incredible group of women that I had the privilege of getting to know this season,” Weber wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I learned so many lessons from all of you that I will carry with me. Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love. You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves wholeheartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward.”
“Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further,” he continued. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”
What was the breakup like?
No one was really surprised to see Prewett and Weber call it quits. They did have all of the odds stacked against them, after all. His family was vocally against the relationship and Bachelor nation wasn’t exactly behind them either. Though no one was surprised that things didn’t work out, people did wonder what happened to make them go from being together at the “After the Final Rose” special to completely done two days later.
Weber recently revealed the details of his breakup on former Bachelor Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files.
“That was tough, we left the stage together, we were supposed to do some press,” Weber said.” We just couldn’t do it, we just weren’t in the right headspace. She went to her hotel to talk to her family for a bit, then she came over to my hotel … that was mainly just [us] trying to be there for each other.”
The next day, the two called it quits.
“The second day was when we pretty much spent the entire day together, that was…OK, let’s figure this out,” he said. “I remember going to her hotel… it was super sad. For probably six hours, we stayed on her bed there, we laughed, we cried, we hugged each other… it was rough.”
