‘The Bachelor’: Lauren Burnham Opens up About Her Infertility Struggles
Lauren Burnham and husband Arie Luyendyk Jr. from The Bachelor Season 22 are trying for another baby after having a miscarriage in May 2020. However, the 28-year-old clothing designer opened up on social media about what it’s like going through infertility struggles.
‘The Bachelor’ couple took a pregnancy test on camera
Lauren Burnham and Arie Luyendyk Jr. have a YouTube channel where they share many private moments with their fans. On Aug. 5, they shared a personal video of the results of a pregnancy test.
“I’m going to take a test every day and see if I start seeing a faint line,” Burnham told viewers. “I took about six, and all of them were negative.”
The mood of the video was happy and upbeat. The couple is excited to share with fans that they are trying to conceive again after their miscarriage.
“I feel like if it’s meant to be it will happen,” Luyendyk Jr. said.
They also talked about baby names for their future child, and how they both agree they want another unique name. Burnham hated being one of four “Laurens” on The Bachelor, so the couple plans to make sure their children never have to go through that.
Burnham opened up about her infertility struggles
On Sept. 27, Burnham shared an emotional Instagram Story with her followers about the struggle to conceive again.
“I feel like I’ve been so distant on here lately, and I hate it,” she began. “I’ve had a pretty emotional last six months dealing with our pregnancy, the miscarriage, and trying to get pregnant again. I got pregnant with Alessi so unexpectedly that I never envisioned us struggling like this with our second. I’ve taken more pregnancy tests than I’d like to admit, and each one has been a big fat no.”
Then she explained how devastating it is to continue to see negative pregnancy tests.
“I was actually convinced I was pregnant this month only to find out yesterday that I wasn’t,” Burnham revealed. “Anyway, I’m hoping by sharing this, I make at least one of you feel less alone or just show you that we all have things we’re working through. Even if we only post really cute pics of our families on Instagram. If you have friends going through similar things, be gentle with them. If it’s you going through this, be gentle with yourself.”
‘The Bachelor’ alum is feeling ‘discouraged’
On Sept. 2, Burnham also told fans that she feels sad about how long it is taking for the couple to conceive their second child.
“We have been trying for a couple of months,” she wrote in another Instagram story reported by People. “I know it’s not been long yet, but since our miscarriage, we’ve wanted another baby so bad. I’ve been sad & discouraged the last couple of months bcuz of it, but trying to stay positive!”
