‘The Bachelor’: Madison Prewett Didn’t Want to Date Peter Weber Because She Didn’t Feel ‘Welcomed’
Madison Prewett wants fans to remember that she and Peter Weber never officially dated. After the pilot’s season of The Bachelor ended, the two took a couple days to talk about whether they were going to pursue a relationship together or not. Ultimately, they decided not to.
Since then, some drama has gone down between Prewett, Weber, and his new (old) love interest, Kelley Flanagan. But why exactly didn’t Weber and Prewett work out in the first place?
Why Madison Prewett didn’t think dating Peter Weber was a good idea after ‘The Bachelor’
When Prewett was interviewed by Kaitlyn Bristowe on her podcast, Off The Vine, she walked the former bachelorette through her breakup with the pilot.
“We took a couple days, it was a lot of long conversations, a lot of tears, a lot of smiles, a lot of every kind of emotion, a lot of back and forth. But we finally got to a place where we realized with everything that’s happened, this isn’t necessarily the best foundation to be starting a relationship,” she said.
Prewett went on to say she feels a successful relationship needs to be built on “trust,” which she felt Weber had broken. She also noted not feeling “welcomed” by “the people [who] care about [Weber].”
“You want to start a relationship with trust, you want to start a relationship where you feel safe and you feel comfortable and you feel just welcomed by that person, by the people they care about around them and I didn’t feel that way,” she said.
After the way everything played out, it’s hard not to imagine that Prewett was speaking about Barb, Weber’s mom. Weber has said that he and Prewett didn’t decide against dating because of his mom, but it seems like, to Prewett, the lack of family support on the Weber side at least played a factor. Then again, Weber has also said that he and Prewett also ultimately proved his mom right by deciding they were incompatible.
Madison Prewett regrets not apologizing to Peter Weber’s mom, Barb
Weber feels that Prewett should have apologized to his mom and family for how their meeting in Australia went. And Prewett said on Off The Vine that she wishes she would have apologized to Barb, too.
“Honestly, if I could go back, that’s the one thing I wish that I would’ve just apologized and been apologetic in that moment,” she said.
Prewett continued: “I walked off that stage and I’ve never cried harder in my life. I was so upset. It’s the person that I loves mom and family… I wish that I would’ve been able to process it a little bit faster and just be able to say, ‘You know what? I’m so sorry if there’s anything I did that I upset you or offended you, made you feel the way that you feel. That was obviously never my intention.'”
