‘The Bachelor’: Matt James’ Date with Rachael Kirkconnell Is Just Like These Previous Dates on the Show
On the Feb. 1 episode of The Bachelor, lead Matt James takes Rachael Kirkconnell on a one-on-one date. On their date, they do a certain activity that is quite similar to previous dates on the show and has been an indicator of a frontrunner for the season. Read on to find out what their date is, and where the audience may have seen the same date before.
What Rachael Kirkconnell and Matt James did on their date
James takes Kirkconnell for a one-on-one date outside of the Nemacolin resort to go shopping with celebrity stylist Ty Hunter selecting the items. Kirkconnell tries on various designer dresses, while James sits and watches her model the clothes for him. A short clip of the date is available to watch on Reddit.
“Rachael caught my eye night one and she continues to impress me,” James said in a voiceover of the date. “She’s just very confident and that shines louder than anything else.”
Kirkconnell voiced in an in-the-moment interview that she was “overwhelmed” during the date. “I’ve never been treated like an actual princess,” she revealed. “It’s just his way of showing me he wants to make me happy in all sorts of ways. I’ve yet to find one thing that I don’t love about him.”
James said Kirkconnell is missing one thing: shoes. The clip then showed Kirkconnell receiving expensive Christian Louboutin shoes and she expressed her shock.
“I’ve never had a pair of shoes over like, forty dollars,” she said about the high-priced luxury shoes she was gifted on the date. “I’m literally speechless.”
Becca Kufrin and Arie Luyendyk Jr. went on the same date
On Arie Luyendyk’s season of The Bachelor, Becca Kufrin’s first date with the lead was her trying on designer dresses for him as well. The two met designer Rachel Zoe, and Kufrin enjoyed a day of playing dress-up. Luyendyk sat and watched while Kufrin showed off various gowns to him.
Kufrin went on to “win” Luyendyk’s season with an engagement at the end. The pair unfortunately broke up in a heartwrenching live television event, but Kufrin had the last word as the next Bachelorette.
Colton Underwood and Caelynn Miller-Keyes did this date too
Another pair that went on this same date was Bachelor Colton Underwood and contestant Caelynn Miller-Keyes. While Miller-Keyes might have been used to trying on gorgeous dresses due to being a beauty pageant contestant, she still greatly enjoyed the date with the former football player.
Miller-Keyes ended up finishing fourth in Underwood’s season. She made it to the hometown dates portion of the show, and had a very close friendship with winner Cassie Randolph.
It seems like the trying-on-clothes date is a good indicator of a frontrunner on the show. We’ll have to keep watching to find out where Kirkconnell finishes on James’ season, and if this date trend continues to be a Bachelor prophecy.
