The first Black lead on The Bachelor, Matt James, gave his first impression rose to Abigail Heringer on the Jan. 4, 2021, premiere. Here’s everything we know about the 25-year-old client financial manager from Beaverton, Oregon, and how far she makes it on The Bachelor Season 25.
[Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for The Bachelor Season 25 ahead.]
‘The Bachelor’ star Matt James gave his first impression rose to Abigail Heringer
Abigail grew up in Salem, Oregon, and graduated from South Salem’s International Baccalaureate program with almost a solid 4.0. According to the Statesman Journal, Abigail was an accomplished junior golfing and still loves to spend her free time golfing with her grandparents.
She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her older sister, Rachel, but her parents still live in her hometown. Abigail and her sister were born with congenital hearing loss. They both underwent surgery for cochlear implants at the age of two; the youngest age allowed at the time.
The timing worked out perfectly for Abigail to join the series. She was furloughed from her job as a financial manager, so she had time for the extensive screening process.
Do the ‘First Impression Rose’ winners typically go on to win the season?
Since The Bachelor lead began handing out first impression roses in season 10, fans speculated whether it means that person will eventually win the lead’s heart. During Peter Weber’s season, his first impression rose went to Hannah Ann Sluss, and he did propose to her during the finale. However, the two did not last to the “After the Rose” episode.
During season 17 of The Bachelor, Sean Lowe gave a rose to his eventual winner, Catherine Giudici. However, of the 15 seasons, the rose only led to the win two times.
As far as The Bachelorette, winning a first impression rose does raise your odds of winning the season. In 16 seasons of the show, seven winners also received the first impression rose during week 1. Most recently, Clare Crawley gave her first rose to Dale Moss, and then ended the show to choose him.
How far does James take Abigail on this season of ‘The Bachelor’?
According to spoiler king Reality Steve Carbone, Abigail does not make it to the final four on The Bachelor with Matt James. Instead, the journalist believes that Serena Pitt, Rachael Kirkconnell, and Michelle Young make it to the Hometown dates. The spoiler king also thinks that Bri Springs might make it to the finale, but he is not positive.
While Carbone sometimes gets things wrong when predicting the season, it doesn’t look like Abigail makes it to the end. To see how far she lasts with Matt James, tune into ABC Monday nights at 8 p.m. for The Bachelor Season 25.
