Because production on Crawley’s season was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic back in March 2020, Crawley had the opportunity to look at contestants’ social media before meeting them in real life. And according to Crawley, she liked what she saw from Moss’ Instagram before meeting him.
After Moss spoke with Crawley on the first night of The Bachelorette, Crawley said, “I knew it. It does feel like I just met my husband. I’m shaking.”
Throughout Crawley’s brief season, she often gave Moss “extra time” so she could see him more. She ended up deciding to end the season early so she could be with Moss. At the time, many fans criticized Crawley for not going through the “whole process” to give equal opportunity to get to know each man on the show.
How Clare Crawley and Dale Moss broke up
Moss, in a since-deleted Instagram post, ended his relationship with Crawley in mid-January 2021.
“I wanted to share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote on a photo. “We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time.”
Moss continued: “We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself — something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another.”
Crawley replied with her own Instagram post, implying that she was blindsided by Moss with his announcement.
“I was made aware of a ‘mutual’ statement at the same time you all were, so I’ve needed some time to really digest this,” Crawley wrote. “Speaking for myself, my intentions with this relationship have always been very clear, so the truth is I am crushed.”
Crawley then said Moss’ post was “not what [she] expected or hoped for” and that she’s “still trying to process this.”

Fans were already speculating that Moss and Crawley were headed for splitsville due to allegations of Moss cheating on Crawley. Furthermore, fans on Reddit took a look back on Crawley’s social media and thought a video she shared on her Instagram story showed Moss’ lack of interest months ago.
In the video, Moss is shirtless and grabbing something out of a refrigerator. Crawley, who was recording, was giggling after trying to “scare” Moss and said, “I didn’t scare you? Cool, cool.” Moss seems to ignore Crawley in the story, and doesn’t smile at all throughout the video clip.
“He doesn’t even acknowledge her existence,” one Reddit commenter wrote in the thread. “Seriously gross.”
Another commenter wrote: “Oh wow he literally won’t even make eye contact with her at all! I agree — he was done!”
Hopefully both Crawley and Moss find what they’re looking for — maybe outside of reality television.
