I’m struggling to get into this season to be honest. Peter wasn’t my pick to be the bachelor and he’s a little too vanilla for my liking. [This season] just seems much cattier and more superficial in a way. I can’t tell if the show has changed or if I’ve just gotten too old for it! I can’t figure it out yet, but I’m still trying.

CS: Who are you rooting for this season?

MR: Unfortunately, seeing how the drama has unfolded, it changes every week. I really used to like Madison. I was like ‘Oh my gosh, I think she’d be great.’ I really liked Victoria Paul until she massively freaked out last week. I was rooting for Sydney, and then she kind of lost me. I think everyone that I like kind of gives me a reason an episode later why I don’t like them anymore!

CS: If you could go back in time and appear on The Bachelor again, is there anything you would do differently? Do you have any regrets?

MR: Honestly, I don’t have any regrets. Obviously, my time on The Bachelor was a world ago. It was a different show back then. So, I feel like when we were on the show 11 or 12 years ago, we were as authentic as we could be. There was no social media gain to come out of it. There were no job opportunities, and so we were who we were.

I think it was definitely, in my experience, a little embarrassing at the end. But I wouldn’t have had the career afterward that I did and I don’t think I would have grown as much as I did if it hadn’t happened. So, I don’t think I would change anything about my experience.

CS: Do you have any advice or tips for this season’s contestants?

MR: I’m struggling to know who is actually there for Peter. And once I figure that part out, my advice is, stay true to who you are. I think the show has changed so much. People come on now and they want something else out of it other than the love story at the end. I personally really like the love story.

Peter may not be my favorite bachelor, but I still want to see him find somebody. I’m a hopeless romantic that watches for that. And I hope he finds that person and I hope they stay true to themselves and their relationship and they don’t let the media world and social media world and all of that change them or change their relationship.

CS: Do you have a favorite bachelor so far?

MR: I would say Sean Lowe is my favorite bachelor of all time. I knew him before. I just think he was kind of the perfect mix of a bachelor. I think he’s funny and he’s intelligent. I think he was the right amount of charming and I think everybody got that he was a genuinely good guy. He really wanted to find a woman and clearly, he’s still married to her now and they have a bunch of kids. Sean Lowe is by far my favorite.
