‘The Bachelor’: Peter Weber Still Feels Like He Has to ‘Make It up’ to Kelley Flanagan for What He ‘Put [Her] Through’
Peter Weber got engaged to Hannah Ann Sluss during his season of The Bachelor. But the former couple broke up before “After the Finale Rose,” where he and Madison Prewett were reunited. As Bachelor Nation knows, Weber and Prewett didn’t work out either.
Not too long after Weber and Prewett decided they weren’t a good fit, the pilot began reconnecting with Kelley Flanagan, also from his season. They exchanged numbers after running into each other in Los Angeles when they were out with friends. After a bit of texting, Weber flew to Chicago to spend time with Flanagan. There, in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, they picked up where they’d left off.

Weber admits that he and Flanagan got together in an unconventional way. He feels he put her through a lot and wants her to feel like she’s the one for him, even though he sent her home on the show.
“Everything I put Kelley through… I’m still working to make it up to her for not picking her,” he told Entertainment Tonight on July 14. “And I’m never going to stop.”
Flanagan says the key to her and Weber’s relationship being successful after such a dramatic chain of events is good communication.
“Trust is a huge thing, but if you just hear each other out, it’s a lot easier,” she told the publication. “We’ve sat down and talked everything through, and it makes a lot more sense if you’re on our end than the public’s.”
A lot of Bachelor fans are quick to point out that Flanagan wasn’t Weber’s “first choice.” The pilot has a message for them.
“People like to say, ‘Oh, she wasn’t your first choice. And I know for Kelley, it has been tough to see. But listen, at the end of the day, this is a reality TV dating show. This is not real life, normal life, so it’s not the same,” he said.
The former bachelor went on to say that few people “end up marrying the very first boyfriend or girlfriend they ever had. It’s not their technical first choice. So, we’ve just done a good job of reassuring each other and just explaining why I did things, and owning up to my faults and just being a better person moving forward.”

Despite their complicated beginning, Weber and Flanagan seem to be very happy together today.
“With Kelley, it literally sounds so cliché — I can just be myself. She truly gets me,” says Weber. “She’s my biggest fan and she supports me and she’s always there for me. I know I have my partner in crime forever.”
“There was always something about Peter that I knew I just was madly in love. I just knew we’d get along,” says Flanagan.
