‘The Bachelor’: Peter Wishes He Didn’t Meet Hannah Ann on Reality TV
Early this week, The Bachelor came to a dramatic conclusion and Bachelor Nation still isn’t over it. Peter Weber’s season was a whirlwind of emotion from the beginning. There was drama between a lot of the women in the mansion, but there was no greater drama than what occurred between Weber and Hannah Ann Sluss during the finale of the show.
[Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for The Bachelor season finale ahead.]
Hannah Ann got engaged
Pilot Pete started off on the wrong foot with the 30-some women vying for his heart when he considered getting back together with former bachelorette Hannah Brown. Despite his initial misstep, Hannah Ann fell hard for Weber.
She stuck with Peter all the way to the end of the competition. After Madison Prewett self-eliminated herself, Weber got down on one knee and proposed to Sluss in bug-filled Australia.
Peter Weber called off the engagement
A month after proposing, Weber called off his engagement with Sluss. He admitted he still had feelings for Prewett, who initially left because she didn’t think their relationship could last, what with all of their lifestyle differences.
Peter breaking off his engagement to Hannah Ann was a complete “finasco.” After tolerating as much as she could during season 24, Hannah Ann finally took a stand. As Weber was ending there relationship, Sluss demanded to know why he didn’t just “let her go.”
When Weber apologized for his actions, Sluss interrupted: “Sorry for what?” She left the Weber home frustrated, hurt, and confused.
Peter wishes he met Hannah Ann and Peter outside of ‘The Bachelor’
During The Bachelor finale, Weber admitted there were so many things he would have done differently. Bachelor host and producer Chris Harrison gave Hannah Ann the last word, who revealed how Weber told her he wished they had met outside of the show:
Even after our breakup, you reached out to my parents saying that you were just processing your emotions and that you wished more that anything we had met outside of reality TV. How does that make any sense? You signed up to be the Bachelor.
Hannah Ann Sluss, The Bachelor
During their live conversation, Hannah Ann explained how Peter knew exactly what to say to keep her with him. Weber claimed his heart was in “temporary pain” and he would have regretted not proposing to Hannah Ann because of that.
Honesty is key in any relationship — especially those formed on reality television. Had Weber been honest about his conflicting feelings regarding both Madison and Hannah Brown, the engagement may have turned out differently, according to Hannah Ann:
If you would have sat me down and had an honest conversation exactly where your head and mind was at during that week you know my instincts would have picked up on that you were not ready for a commitment with me. You know the out come would have been different. You know that deep down, and the most hurtful part is that you didn’t respect me enough just to sit me down and have that open and honest conversation with me.
Hannah Ann Sluss, The Bachelor
Whether or not Peter and Hannah Ann ever stood a chance will always be a mystery, but for Bachelor Nation, it’s nice to think of a world where that could be possible.
