‘The Bachelor’: Tyler Cameron Seems to Approve of Matt James Dating Rachael Kirkconnell
Fans of The Bachelor watched when Matt James chose to end his season with Rachael Kirkconnell, but the couple’s relationship quickly fell apart. While Kirkconnell had to her own work in unpacking her racist actions of the past, James made it clear they were through. But now, it seems they’re back together — and James’ best friend and alumni of The Bachelorette, Tyler Cameron, appears to approve of Kirkconnell despite it all.

Those who watched Matt James’ season of The Bachelor likely didn’t expect him to get back together with Rachael Kirkconnell. During the After the Final Rose special, James made it clear Kirkconnell has plenty of learning to do on her own time. At this point, he didn’t see any future with her, and it looked like he would distance himself from the franchise. But the two ultimately reconciled.
People reports James spoke on the Pomp podcast about his relationship with Kirkconnell. James shared Kirkconnell gave him an ultimatum when it came to dating — and he stated he needed that push to take their reconciliation seriously.
“She was like, ‘If you’re going to make this work, let’s do it. But, if you’re not going to make it work, I’m going to let you do your own thing,'” James explained. He then noted their relationship has greatly improved, as Kirkconnell did plenty of her own work on the side to improve her past.
“It’s been great,” James added. “It was honestly a commitment that we made to each other that we were going to work on the relationship.”

While Matt James is clearly OK with how far his girlfriend’s come in her journey since The Bachelor, how do his friends feel? His reconciliation with Kirkconnell has certainly received some side -eye from the public. But it looks like Cameron, one of his best friends, approves of Kirkconnell, as he went on vacation with the couple.
Page Six reports Cameron hung out with Kirkconnell and James over Memorial Day weekend 2021. Cameron also had model Camila Kendra with him for the weekend. The foursome went to upscale sports club Bounce Beach Montauk to have a fun time together — and given the photos of the four of them smiling, it seems Cameron is just fine hanging out with Kirkconnell despite the past.
Kirkconnell joked to Cameron and James in the comments of James’ Instagram photo, too. The photo from the weekend depicts him hugging Cameron. “Forever the third wheel,” Kirkconnell noted, indicating she’s quite comfortable with both of them.
Neither James nor Cameron posted photos with Kirkconnell from their weekend getaway to Instagram, though. This could be a clue they’re not trying to stir up too much drama with the public.
Is Tyler Cameron dating Camila Kendra?
So, what’s going on with Cameron and Kendra? While fans of The Bachelor might forever ship Cameron with Hannah Brown, he’s been out and about with Kendra prior to Memorial Day. According to People, the two were spotted holding hands in early May 2021. And prior to this, photos captured them unloading a car together in January 2021.
While Cameron hasn’t made any official announcements regarding his relationship status, he certainly won’t attend Bachelor in Paradise — another clue he could be in a relationship. James said there’s a “negative chance” either he or Cameron would go on the reality series.
“I’m not going to speak to his relationship status but I think we’re good on that,” James told People.
As for James’ future with Kirkconnell (and how Cameron really feels about it), we’ll have to wait and see what happens and if they all hang out again in the future.
