The drama continues off-screen for Shanae Ankney from Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor. The so-called villain from season 26 of ABC’s reality dating show recently deleted her Instagram account after coming under fire for remarks she made on the show about fellow contestant Elizabeth Corrigan. Fans took to Reddit and Shanae’s Instagram account to voice their displeasure regarding her comments.

‘The Bachelor’ Season 26 villain Shanae Ankney made disparaging comments about Elizabeth Corrigan’s ADHD diagnosis

The Bachelor with Clayton Echard has no shortage of drama this season, and most of it involves contestant Shanae Ankney. In episode 2, Shanae exchanged heated words with Elizabeth after accusing Elizabeth of ignoring her. When Elizabeth tried to explain that she has an auditory processing disorder caused by her ADHD, Shanae scoffed. She then outed Elizabeth’s diagnosis to the rest of the women in the house.

Afterward, Shanae told the cameras mockingly, “I’m not sure anyone has heard, but she [Elizabeth] has ADHD, and it’s really bad. I don’t want to ever upset her again because I feel really terrible. She has ADHD.” She then proceeded to laugh at her comments.

The focus in ‘The Bachelor’ Episode 3 landed on ‘Shrimpgate’

The ladies’ drama continued in the following episode of The Bachelor when Elizabeth cooked shrimp and offered them up to the women in the house. Shanae quickly bounded into the kitchen and took what the other ladies considered more than her fair share. Thanks to The Bachelor’s “Shrimp Counter” posted on the screen, audience members knew Shanae ate a total of eight shrimp. This left very few for the rest of the cast.

Earlier this week, Shanae posted a tongue-in-cheek video on Instagram of her cooking her own shrimp. However, she never addressed the issue of outing Elizabeth’s medical diagnosis without permission, and fans felt she “lacks self-awareness.” Surprisingly, viewers discovered Shanae deleted her Instagram account by Wednesday, Jan. 26.

Fans feel Shanae Ankney wanted the villain role but couldn’t handle the criticism that comes along with it

Once fans noticed the deletion of Shanae’s Instagram account, they took to Reddit to voice their opinions.

One Reddit user wrote, “What did she think was going to happen? There’s lovable villains who can’t control their eyebrows and then there’s attacking an entire group of peoples mental differences, lying to everyone and laughing about it in her ITMs. Shanae clearly wanted the villain edit. I’m not going to feel bad that she got it.”

Another Redditor chimed with similar thoughts, “I have a hard time feeling sorry for Shanae. No one is immune from the consequences of their actions–not before she went on Bachelor, not after.”

However, not everyone thought Shanae deserved the bullying she received on social media. “I’m glad she deleted it. I don’t want her to have a platform of any kind. But I can’t get on board with anyone deserving hate. Dammit, waking up and defending Shanae was not on my top 10 thousand things I saw happening today. But here we are,” said another user.

Of course, there’s always a chance Shanae simply deactivated her account for the time being. Tune in to new episodes of The Bachelor to see if Shanae gets a redemption arc this season. The show airs Monday nights at 8 P.M. on ABC.
