Matt James is well on his way to finding love on The Bachelor. Though it’s only week two, it’s clear that James already has some favorites, and that some women might be producer picks to stay and keep up the drama. This week, contestant Sarah Trott really shone among the other women. She had a one-on-one- date and really connected with James but during the rose ceremony, she almost passed out. So, what happened to Trott?

Sarah Trott and Matt James connect

Early in the episode, Trott made it clear that she doesn’t open up easily and that it was going to take some time for her to let James in. When she was given a one-on-one, she was nervous about how it would go. During the first portion of the date when James asked about her family, Trott answered him but it was clear that she was avoiding talking about something.

“I could tell that Sarah was struggling with something,” James said. “She’s slow getting started, but I need her to be open and vulnerable.”

In Trott’s intro package at the beginning of the season, she revealed that her father has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). When she found out about the disease, she left her job in broadcast journalism to care for him.

“I was 19 when we got that diagnosis and it was completely shocking,” she said. “Like, how do you wrap your head around that, your dad has a terminal illness? Fortunately, he’s still alive and he’s still in good spirits.”

On her one-on-one date, she revealed her dad’s diagnosis to James and told him how she brushes her dad’s hair and cares for him.

“It’s brought our family so close,” she said. “I feel like I just poured my heart out!”

James was naturally moved by Trott’s words and gave her a rose.

“I can’t think of a more selfless act,” he told her. “And the fact that she should be home with her pops right now, with her family, and she’s here with me having dinner — I don’t even know what to say. It’s an honor.”

Sarah Trott faints

After getting the rose, Trott should have been able to chill for the rest of the evening but drama quickly started brewing.

Later, Victoria Larson accused Marylynn Sienna of being toxic and manipulative which took up most of the time at the cocktail party.

“I’m so grateful I have a rose because Victoria is ruining the night,” Trott said in her confessional. She also said that the whole thing was making her feel very overwhelmed.

Later, while the rose ceremony was going, Trott’s eyes started fluttering and she looked a bit woozy. Things escalated when she almost fell off of the platform holding all of the women. She was then escorted to the back of a sofa where James ran to see what was wrong.

“I’m seeing stars,” she said as the medic examined her. “I’m blacking out. I can’t see.”

As Trott did mention that she was getting overwhelmed earlier in the episode, this could have been what led to her condition. However, we won’t know any real answers until next week.

The Bachelor airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
