ABC’s The Bachelorette Season 21 came to an upsetting conclusion for Jenn Tran. The leading lady chose Devin Strader as her final man, and she proposed to him in a twist that no one saw coming. Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last. Devin broke up with Jenn and later shared private texts between them online.

Devin Strader shared private texts between himself and Jenn Tran after ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21 finale

Jenn Tran thought she had found the love of her life on The Bachelorette Season 21. She brought Devin Strader and Marcus Shoberg to the finale. While she had strong feelings for Marcus, he couldn’t reciprocate the same level of love. However, Devin fell deeply in love with Jenn and had no issue expressing his intense feelings to her and her family. Jenn proposed to Devin in Hawaii — a Bachelor Nation first — and he accepted the proposal.

While the two left the tropical location happily in love, their romance didn’t last long. Devin broke up with Jenn in a 15-minute phone call.

“He was making bold proclamations of love, and then suddenly the next day, he was like, nothing, and he denied ever being in love,” Jenn said during the After the Final Rose special. “All the promises he had made to me, all of the love that he had wanted to give to me, wasn’t there anymore.”

Devin posted private texts to his Instagram Stories before quickly deleting them. The texts were between him and Jenn. According to screenshots posted to Reddit, Devin texted Jenn that he wanted to speak to her in person after their breakup because she “deserved more than a phone call. “

Devin wrote in another series of texts, “Just last week, Friday, you said we should break up. You’ve said that before. I really took that to heart because I’ve been having doubts about our whole relationship. And I’m not happy now, when I know you aren’t either.”

He added that he was “always falling short” of Jenn’s “expectations,” and he alluded that he and Jenn were at odds during their last Happy Couple weekend. “You don’t deserve this and I don’t think I can [give] you what you deserve,” Devin texted.

Fans called Devin Strader out for the texts

Devin Strader clearly hoped that the texts would defend him from scrutiny after The Bachelorette Season 21 finale. Unfortunately, they seemed to backfire. Devin deleted the texts, but many fans still saw them and believed him publishing them was the wrong move.

“I will never be in favor of people sharing personal text messages online,” a fan on Reddit commented. “The ability to edit and lose context is always too much.”

“Undated and censored text messages? Hmmm, no,” another fan wrote.

Another fan thinks Devin isn’t telling the whole story with the minimal texts he published.

“If he had a coherent story to share, he would have shared it on ATFR,” the fan explained. “He said so much but nothing of substance. He could have so easily said that he wanted to break up in person but Jenn declined to give him the opportunity to do so, yet he didn’t. So, I’m inclined to think there’s more to the story here than what he’s sharing on IG.”

The senior vice president of ABC called Jenn Tran’s winner out for unsavory behavior

Robert Mills, the Senior Vice President for Alternative Series, Specials, and Late-Night Programming for ABC Entertainment, called Devin Strader out after The Bachelorette Season 21 finale.

“Well Devin you had the opportunity to confess if you did anything else to Jenn post-proposal,” Mills posted to X, according to a screenshot posted to Reddit.

Bachelor Nation spoiler guru Reality Steve also mentioned that there’s additional news regarding Devin — and none of it’s good. Additionally, during the After the Final Rose special, Jesse Palmer seemed to press Devin for further information (and possibly a confession).
