‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21 contestant Marcus Shoberg ‘is not a good guy,’ an insider says
Marcus Shoberg is a frontrunner in The Bachelorette Season 21. Jenn Tran developed a close connection with him early in the season, and he was the only contestant to receive two one-on-ones before hometowns. After Jenn Tran met his family, she gave him a rose, solidifying his position for hometowns. However, Marcus expresses doubts about his feelings for Jenn. While Jenn is in love with Marcus, Marcus doesn’t seem to be there yet with Jenn.
Insiders told Life & Style that Marcus did not go on The Bachelorette “for the right reasons.”
“He is not a good guy, and it’s a shame that Jenn had to unknowingly be subjected to him,” the insider said.
“Not everyone goes on the show for love, and Marcus is not there for love,” another source said. “He’s there for admiration and maybe even [wanted] to be the next Bachelor.”
The second source noted that the producers were “super charmed” by Marcus when they cast him. “They told him that he had the most interesting story of any guy they ever had on the show,” the insider added.
Several fans posted about controversies surrounding the contestant
The Bachelorette Season 21 fans on Reddit heard about the controversy surrounding Marcus Shoberg.
In early April 2024, a user on Reddit came forward and alleged that Marcus had harmed several women in his past. The user wanted to know if there was a way to contact producers with this information. They later contacted producers but allegedly did not hear back.
Later that same month, a user on Reddit claiming to be Jenn Tran’s brother, asked other users for information on the men appearing on Jenn’s season. The user with allegations against Marcus contacted the user claiming to be Jenn’s brother. According to one comment on the now-deleted thread, the accusations against Marcus involve cheating and emotional abuse.
An alleged victim of Marcus’s, who Reddit moderators confirmed, came forward to speak on the subject matter. “I can confirm that everything about him that has been alluded to is true, and I have receipts to back up all of it,” she wrote. “He is one of the least empathetic people I have ever had the displeasure of being involved with, although he comes off extremely charming initially — which we will all see on the show.”
‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21 spoilers: How far does Marcus Shoberg get?
So, how far does Marcus Shoberg get in The Bachelorette Season 21? According to Reality Steve, he gets to the finale with Devin Strader. Jenn Tran chooses Devin, and Marcus leaves.
Marcus expressed having doubts about his feelings for Jenn, so it’s for the best that she didn’t choose him in the end. During their Fantasy Suites dinner, Jenn tells Marcus she’s in love with him.
“You make me feel amazing,” Marcus says. “You deserve all the love in the world. But I’m not there yet. I’m struggling right now.”
Jenn doesn’t seem pleased with his answer, which likely influences her choosing Devin.
