Tayshia Adams went from being the lead on The Bachelorette to helping guide Katie Thurston through her own season. While Thurston has commended both Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe for being there for her during her season, Adams’ time away from her fiancé Zac Clark apparently hurt their relationship.

Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark struggled

Adams has spent the past few months talking mostly about Thurston and her relationships. But, she recently opened up on The Ben and Ashley I. Almost Famous podcast about how filming The Bachelorette harmed her own relationship.

“I think after that, it was kinda like we need to remember why we were with each other,” Adams said, according to People. “And I think that that’s absolutely normal….It’s hard to be in a new relationship and then kind of go away for a couple of weeks, you know what I mean? And this is me being real and honest.”

Adams didn’t want to get into the details of what she and Clark were going through but she did want fans to understand that even love takes work.

“People don’t need to need to know our story, but like, I think people need to know that even when two people are heavily in love, you still go through things,” she continued. “Like, okay, we need to remember where we came from.”

It was also hard for Adams to be part of someone else’s Bachelorette journey right after her own.

“For me, I’m not going to lie, because it was so close to, like, my season, I feel like I kinda was in my feels a lot of the journey,” she said. “I would even text Zac and be like, ‘I’m thinking of us through this thing.’ ‘I’m thinking of how you kind of stressed out, like, [with me] going on a date or how I was feeling. It was tough for me, I was crying a lot.”

Zac and Tayshia’s relationship

Adams met Clarke after she was sent in to replace Clare Crawley as the Bachelorette. The two quickly fell for one another and Clarke proposed to Adams at the end of the season.

“I came here because I was supposed to be here, and I came here because I was supposed to fall in love with you,” Clarke said in his proposal. “Nothing has felt so right my entire life. You’ve helped me experience the love I didn’t know existed … I love you because you are a strong, independent woman, who makes everyone better. I love you because you believe in me.”

Adams obviously accepted the proposal.

“I know that I told you that I loved you, but it’s more than that. It’s this wild, wild, wild love that I’ve tried to come up with so many reasons not to believe,” she responded. “You truly made me believe there doesn’t need to be flaws, and I deserve love with a man who won’t run away … Yes, it is real and I feel it, too.”

Will Tayshia Adams return to host again?

It was recently announced that Adams would return to help Bristowe co-host Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette. So, hopefully, she and Clarke have figured out a way to get through the stress of filming away from one another.
