Getting kicked off of a Bachelor show doesn’t mean you are no longer a part of Bachelor nation. If you ever appear in the franchise, you’re a member of the Bachelor world forever.

We met Tyler Gwozdz on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. While he was only there for a short time, he caused waves in the Bachelor world as he left the show with little to no explanation. Later, it was revealed that some controversial things from Gwozdz’s past may have been the reason that he was sent packing.

Now, Gwozdz is making headlines for a much more somber reason.

Why did Tyler Gwozdz leave the show?

Things were looking good for Gwozdz when he got a one-on-one date with Brown early on in the season. But then, in the third episode, he was removed from the show with little to no explanation.

“We were all by the pool, having a regular conversation, and next thing I know, Tyler’s gone,” contestant Cam Ayala told Entertainment Tonight of Gwozdz’s departure.

Shortly after his exit from the show, fans did some snooping to figure out what exactly happened with Gwozdz.

A Reddit thread exposed a story from Gwozdz’s past that might have contributed to his exit.

“The story that most caught my attention involves his treatment of an ex,” a user wrote. “Apparently, he dated a really sweet girl, but they would get in public screaming matches often. The relationship ended horrifically. While in Europe, he SPIT ON HER and left.”

The rumors got so bad that Gwozdz emailed Refinery29 to set the record straight.

“Addressing totally unsubstantiated rumors posted to Reddit from an anonymous account seems imprudent,” he wrote. “I feel that even addressing them gives them some sort attention and fuel but I continue to have faith in my journey and in a purpose for everything that’s happened to me in my life. Above everything else, I am a son to my mother. She raised me to be better than these sort of baseless accusations. The rumors are so far out of the realm of my personality and values that it seems silly to waste time denying, but I suppose I will for the record. BUT I will be alright.”

Gwozdz claimed that he left the show on his own accord.

“This was a decision that I came to with producers, and something that I’ve come to realize what is the best decision that could’ve been made,” he continued.

Why was Tyler Gwozdz in the hospital?

According to TMZ, Gwozdz was hospitalized after a possible overdose.

Officers from Boca Raton PD were called to a home on Jan. 13 to respond to Gwozdz.

The female caller told dispatchers that Gwozdz may have overdosed on heroin as she tried to break into the bathroom that the former reality star had locked himself in.

She was eventually able to get into the bathroom, turned Gwozdz on his back, and waited until an ambulance arrived.

He was then taken to the hospital and admitted into the ICU, where he stayed in the hospital for a week in critical but stable condition.

Through online records, Entertainment Tonight was able to confirm that Gwozdz died on Jan. 22. He was 29.
