‘The Bachelorette’: The Truth Behind Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez’s ‘Explosive’ Relationship
The Bachelor: The Greatest Season Ever! is airing Ali Fedotowsky’s season on Aug. 3, 2020. The reality TV star was the lead of The Bachelorette Season 6. She chose Roberto Martinez in the final rose ceremony, but the relationship was far from perfect.

When The Bachelorette Season 6 aired on ABC, it looked like Martinez swept Fedotowsky off her feet. She handed him the first impression rose on night one, and their first date was magical.
“From the instant, I saw Roberto, I felt a connection,” Fedotowsky said after their tightrope date in downtown Los Angeles. “I’ve never felt that way right away with someone. Not only is he super good-looking, but he speaks different languages, he travels. I feel like he’s like this guy I never would’ve thought I deserved. I thought Roberto was too good to be true, but he really just is that good.”
As Fedotowsky narrowed down her 25 contestants, she always kept Martinez. She sent home Chris Lambton the day before the final rose ceremony in Bora Bora, knowing she only wanted Martinez to stay.
“I want to grow old with you,” Martinez said when he proposed. “I want to have a beautiful family together. I want to share my life with you. Share your life with me. Be my wife.”
However, the couple announced their break up 18 months later, on Nov. 21, 2011.
Why did Ali and Roberto break up?
The Bachelorette opened up about the split a few months later. She explained that they had different interests and often couldn’t agree on what to do on the weekends.
“He’s more introverted,” Fedotowsky told People. I love being around people and sharing stories and going out to dinner.”
A source told the outlet that Martinez had a temper, and over the last six months of the relationship, their fights worsened.
“He’d be really good and sweet in public, but their fights could be explosive,” the unnamed source explained. “Roberto seemed bothered that Ali was career-minded and had a social life. He is very old-fashioned when it comes to a woman’s place.”
The couple tried to take a break for a week-long trial separation; however, it didn’t help. When Fedotowsky returned, they knew the relationship could not last.
“At the end of the day, we both realized we were unhappy more than we were happy,” the star explained. “And we both deserved more. I just knew that we needed to go separate ways.”

While on the set of the weekly lifestyle show 1st Look on NBC, the former star met Kevin Manno. The two developed a lasting friendship that turned into love. The radio host and on-air personality proposed in 2015, and the two married on March 3, 2017.
Fedotowsky finally got to have the wedding that she always pictured, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
“Throughout my life, I’ve always imagined what my wedding day would be like,” the star told US Weekly. “Today has been far better than anything I could have dreamt up. Kevin is the one true love of my life, and I feel insanely lucky to call him my husband. I am honored to be Mrs. Manno.”
The couple resides in Studio City, California, with their two children, Molly and Riley.
