‘The Bachelorette’: Zac Clark Reveals What He Drank During All of Those Toasts
It’s well known that the cast of The Bachelorette is often provided alcohol on their dates and cocktail parties. This could make things awkward for sober contestants like Zac Clark. He explained what he drank throughout the season and a smooth move Tayshia Adams once made for him.
Zac Clark opened up about sobriety on ‘The Bachelorette’
Clark revealed he was married before for a year on his one on one date with Adams. He later talked more about his past at dinner.
He said he found out he had a brain tumor while going to college and had brain surgery. “As a result to the surgery, I was introduced to like pain medication and drugs. So it was like this perfect storm of like here’s Zac at 23 years old, this thing happens and what do I do next?” he said.
Clark said he then got married. But he continued to drink and party selfishly. He said he got arrested, got a DUI, and his ex-wife left him. Clark said he was ready to get sober after he stole a check from his dad and got caught. He claimed to have stayed sober since then.
Clark went on to co-found Release Recovery, which offers transitional living for people after going to rehab. Adams didn’t seem to be worried about this. She said she noticed that he’s very mature.
There were still many drinks served throughout the season, which confused some fans. Now the reality stars are talking about what he drank during the season.
He had 2 options for his drinks
Clark appeared on the Clickbait podcast and talked about doing the show sober. He said he didn’t have any substances while filming.
“No, there was no drinking on the show. Sober to me means no drugs, no alcohol, no nothing since August of 2011,” he said. “And I gotta say, you know, everyone who worked on the show, anytime there was a toast, there was someone with an apple cider sparkling …”
Adams said ginger ale was also available. Clark said there was a moment when he realized Adams had real feelings for him.
“The guy came out with the tray of champagne and there was four champagnes and one apple cider and she looks at him and she goes, ‘No, I’m drinking apple cider with him tonight,'” he said. “And I said, ‘What?!’ She made the guy go back, get an apple cider while all these people are waiting. So, she was on team Clarky that day, and that’s when I knew.”
He was right because Adams chose to give him her final rose in the end. The couple is still together and is now engaged.
