‘This Is Us’: The 5 Best Jack Pearson Quotes to Get Us Excited for Season 4
Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) is the beloved father and husband on the hit-show, This Is Us. He is loyal, romantic, and an all-around great family man. He’s easily one of our favorite characters, and we cannot wait to see more episodes of him in season 4.
While we await the much-anticipated return of NBC’s award-winning drama, This Is Us, let’s take a look at our favorite Jack Pearson quotes.
1. ‘I love you as much as a human heart can love.’
Surprisingly, Jack is not professing this sentiment to his wife, as we would all expect. This quote comes from season 1, episode 6, when Jack has a heart-to-heart with his adopted son, Randall at a particularly difficult time in the young boy’s life. Randall is feeling very different from his two siblings, who are Jack’s children by blood.
Jack sits his son down and explains to him that, yes, the children are different, but that is a good thing. He ends the conversation by telling him how much he loves him. It is an incredibly sweet moment that has viewers in tears. We can see what an amazing father Jack is, just from this one conversation.
2. ‘You find your soulmate, you get married, you stay together until you die, period.’
Jack professes this quote to his entire family in season 1, episode 14. Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack have just found out that their very close friends plan to file for a divorce, so Jack is particularly shaken. Back at home, he explains marriage to his children, insisting that you stay together forever.
His wife, Rebecca, argues that marriage is more complicated than just staying together until you die. Viewers at home; however, love Jack’s sentiment. We see a glimpse of this romantic love story every week, and just when we thought we couldn’t love Jack anymore, he professes that he will stay with his wife until he dies. It really makes any woman’s heart melt. At the same time, we all cry, because we know that he actually does pass away soon.
3. ‘You’re not just my great love story, Rebecca. You were my big break. And our love story, I know it may not feel like it right now, but baby, I promise you, it’s just getting started.’
This quote comes during the epic season 1 finale of This Is Us. Jack and Rebecca have had a huge fallout where Rebecca has asked Jack to move out — at least for the time being. Jack comes back at Rebecca with a monologue about how much he loves her, surprising the audience with his big heart. However, after getting to know Jack throughout that first season, it doesn’t surprise us to hear such romance coming from him.
Jack has been shown time and again to be a devoted husband and father. He may be officially separated from his wife, but he insists that their love story has just begun. It is the perfect way to end the very first season of this drama. We are feeling distraught over the couple’s separation; but at the same time, hopeful that we will be able to see how they repair the relationship in the next season.
4. ‘I love the mother that you are. I love that you are still the most beautiful woman in any room and that you laugh with your entire face.’
Jack proclaims this to his wife, also during the season 1 finale. Jack and Rebecca have three tween children at this point in the show; which makes Rebecca feel like they no longer need her. They have been married for well over ten years and yet he still speaks to her in the most romantic way.
Viewers are filled with both joy and sadness over these sweet nothings from Jack since they already know he passes away all too soon. Still, that doesn’t stop us from hanging on his every word.
5. ‘I am thankful for my family. I’m thankful that we’re all safe and there’s no one in the world that I’d rather be too hot or too cold with.’
Jack tells his entire family, during the first season’s Thanksgiving episode, how happy he is to spend his life with them, in the midst of a pretty awful day. Their holiday didn’t start out very well, with the kids knocking over Rebecca’s cranberry sauce before they even left the house, and then a flat-tire ruining any chance of making it to her parent’s house for dinner.
The family has walked 3.4 miles to the nearest gas station, only to find that they can’t get their car towed until the morning, leaving them to stay overnight in a run-down motel. The room they are given is entirely too hot and the management is run by a creepy front-desk clerk who likes to be called, “Pilgrim Rick.”
Jack saves the day when he steals Rick’s hat and returns to the motel room with an adorable — yet disgusting — dinner of hot dogs, Kraft cheese, and saltines, as well as an eloquent speech about how thankful he is for his family.
This Is Us has us reaching for the tissues every week with so many moments of sheer joy that are also filled with pain, since we know Jack dies too soon. Nonetheless, we love how relatable the show is and we can’t wait for more romantic lines from Jack.
This Is Us Season 4 premieres September 24, 2019.
