‘The Blacklist’ Fans Noticed a Key Element Missing From Season 9
The Blacklist Season 9 is significantly different from previous seasons. Liz Keen is absent from the show following her death in the finale of season 8. This is also the first season without creator Jon Bokenkamp working on the series. The Blacklist has definitely gone through some changes in season 9 and fans are missing one key aspect from previous seasons.
Fans wish ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 had more music
In previous seasons, a fan-favorite aspect of The Blacklist was the excellent music chosen to go along with the scenes. The show’s soundtrack has featured songs from an eclectic variety of artists, including The Rolling Stones, Radical Face, Pearl Jam, The Temptations, Dean Martin, and so much more.
However, in The Blacklist Season 9, fans are noticing that there is significantly less music than in previous seasons. “As I’m watching season 9 I’m wondering where’s the music,” a fan wrote on Reddit. “One of the best things about tbl was the music. Songs that were haunting, captivating, lyrics and melodies that went with the scenes. Songs that you couldn’t get out of your mind. What happened to the music? Has anyone else noticed this?”
The drastic shift isn’t subtle. According to what-song.com, some seasons of The Blacklist have had as many as 70 plus songs. So far, season 9 has only had around 7 songs. To be fair, season 9 has only released 9 episodes, but regardless this season is on track to have the least music of any season by far.
What songs have been included in ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9?
The hosts of The Blacklist Exposed podcast do their best to identify and list every song played in the series. There hasn’t been much available in The Blacklist Season 9, but here are the songs from this season that the podcast hosts have named.
The first episode, “The Skinner: Part 1” includes the song “Head On” by José González as the task force reassemble. “The Skinner: Conclusion” features “Rival” by Ruelle. The hosts also listed two songs included in episode 4: “You In Great Danger” by Dakota Arterberry, Brian Birkbeck & Trevor Lewallen, and “Yacht Rock” by Dash Cat.
In episode 5, “Benjamin T. Okara,” Dembe finally opens the box Red gave him long ago while the song “Dark Matter” by the Seratones plays. Episode 7 closes with a song called “CARE” by Robot Koch. Episode 8 includes what the podcasters presume to be an unreleased song called “Rotten Tree.”
Is ‘The Blacklist’ cancelled?
So far, NBC has not confirmed that The Blacklist will be renewed for season 10. With the shocking lack of promos for this season, it’s even hard to say for sure how many episodes season 9 will have. Ratings have been dropping and there are plenty of fans who aren’t enjoying the new season. However, there is still a chance that the show will continue after season 9. The series will return with new episodes on February 25.
