Samar Navabi returns in ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 Episode 19
The cat is officially out of the back that Mozhan Marnò is reprising her role as Samar Navabi for a guest appearance in The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 19. Samar and Aram were in a serious romantic relationship that ended tragically. When Samar developed vascular dementia, she made the decision to go into hiding on her own after becoming a target of the Osterman Umbrella Company.
“Samar was, for a long time, an emotional touchstone for the show and, especially, for Aram. Having her back was both a reminder of how important she was to the series and still is for Aram,” executive producer John Eisendrath told Entertainment Weekly. “This episode is one in which Aram searches his soul for answers about the kind of person he wants to be. It is only fitting that in a search like that his soulmate — Samar — plays a major part.”
Amir Arison teases an emotional and challenging Aram-centric episode
The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 19 is titled “The Bear Mask.” According to Rotten Tomatoes, the episode synopsis reads, “Feeling the weight of recent pressures, Aram turns to an unusual outlet for release.” Aram recently took over as head of the task force for Cooper while the team searches for evidence in the hopes of clearing his name. While Aram is doing his best he’s clearly facing a lot of stress now that he’s in charge.
Amir Arison certainly put his heart and soul into creating this Aram-centric episode. The actor wrote on Twitter calling the episode, “The hardest I’ve ever worked on an episode of television in my life.” He continued, “This Friday night on #TheBlacklist – among other things, Aram addresses his mental health, a very personal & important episode to me.”
Arison also spoke with New York Live to give a brief teaser for the upcoming episode. “When I got the script I was like, ‘How are we going to do this?’ It’s unlike any script I’ve seen and certainly any script on The Blacklist. It hits every aspect of Aram that he doesn’t even know he’s been dealing with. It’s a culmination of nine seasons of pressure he’s been putting on himself.” Arison also teased, “We may sort of enter Aram’s psyche.”
Arison will star in a Broadway play this summer
Amir Arison has another emotional performance ahead of his. The actor is set to star in the stage adaptation of The Kite Runner this summer on Broadway’s Hayes Theater. “I always wanted to do a Broadway show,” Arison told New York Live. “My other dream was to do a quality TV show and here I am doing nine years on my favorite show and my favorite role and I let that dream go,” Arison said of being on Broadway. Now that dream is coming true.
