Courtney Hope’s portrayal of Sally Spectra

Hope first joined The Bold and the Beautiful in 2017 as Sally, the granddaughter of the original Sally Spectra. The iconic character and longtime The Bold and the Beautiful cast member was portrayed by Darlene Conley. Sally, her namesake, was set to bring back the Spectra family on the show. She had a younger sister that was intoduced, named Coco Spectra.

Sally was written out of the show in 2018 but was later brought back to the show. She was most known for leading Spectra Fashions, her relationship with Wyatt Spencer, and her rivalry with Steffy Forrester.

In an interview earlier this year with Soaps.com, Hope said that she actually grew up watching another soap opera other than The Bold and the Beautiful.

“I’d never really watched the show; growing up I watched All My Children religiously until I was about 16,” she explained. “Then my grandmother moved out [to LA] with me and she was big into soaps. Funny story: I couldn’t remember which one she was into at all; I was focusing on auditions. Then, when it was the anniversary of her passing recently, my phone popped up a photo of her as a “memory.” And it was this photo of her from 2011 at my aunt’s house, and she’s baking cookies at Christmastime – and in the background the TV is on and it’s got Don Diamont’s [Bill Spencer] face on The Bold and the Beautiful and I’d never noticed before. And I was crying. I know she had a hand in me getting this part, even though she’s not here.”

Here’s what the actress says about her exit

Hope broke the news of her exit from The Bold and the Beautiful on Instagram. In a post, she wrote in part, “An abrupt ending to a monumental journey. The last three years have been amazing, and though I do not know what the future holds this chapter of Sally has sadly come to an end. I love my @boldandbeautifulcbs cast and crew and will miss everyone dearly, but await the day we may all play again. Some things are out of our control, and I thank the fans for your support through it all! Until then, I revel in new beginnings and everything the future has in store. Love you all, Sally spectra out.”

Neither the actress nor the show have revealed when Hope’s last airdate will be. Presumably, she filmed scenes after the show commenced production during the pandemic.

In her comments, fans spoke out, slamming the show for the actress and character’s exit. One fan wrote, “So not happy about this your one of my favorite women in daytime. You are definitely the most dynamic on bold .. but as a true fan of your I have to wish you well and I will follow your acting elsewhere!!”

Another said, “I absolutely loved you as Sally, I’ve felt her emotions you’ve done an incredible job portraying this strong character I’ll miss her!!!”

The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS.
