‘The Bold and the Beautiful’: Katherine Kelly Lang Says Eric Was a ‘Fatherly Figure’ to Brooke
The Bold and the Beautiful heroine Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is a significant part of the CBS soap opera. Since 1987 viewers have watched the drama surrounding Brooke’s love life. She’s had many suitors, including Eric Forrester (John McCook). As the show celebrates its 35th anniversary, Lang reflects on Brooke and Eric’s romance.
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ star Katherine Kelly Lang calls Eric Forrester a ‘fatherly figure’
Brooke has won the hearts of many of the Forrester men on The Bold and the Beautiful. While Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) is considered her destiny, Brooke finds love with his other family members. Brooke’s first marriage was to Eric, with whom she has children Rick and Bridget Forrester (Jacob Young and Ashley Jones). Although they divorce, Brooke and Eric remain friends.
In a recent interview with TVInsider, Lang reflected on Brooke’s relationship with Eric. “Eric was more the fatherly figure. Brooke was very young at the time. She was very hurt when she met Eric as Ridge had just dumped her and married Caroline. Eric took her in and made her feel safe and secure. It felt fatherly, but the relationship sprung out of him being there with so much love and support.”

In 1990, The Bold and the Beautiful created the iconic relationship between Brooke and Eric. Their relationship wasn’t without drama. Eric’s ex-wife Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery), was furious over the affair, leading to Stephanie and Brooke’s epic feud.
Brooke and Eric marry, and she gives birth to Rick. However, their marriage is complicated by Brooke’s unresolved feelings for Ridge. Brooke and Ridge sleep together, yet he marries Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) because he doesn’t want to break up his father’s marriage. Brooke discovers she’s pregnant and believes the baby is Ridge’s; however, she learns there’s a possibility Eric’s the father.
Brooke gives birth to Bridget, and a DNA test proves Ridge is the father. However, a new test shows Eric is Bridget’s dad years later. Brooke and Eric divorced in 1993, yet they remain friends and support each other through turmoil.
He’s become Brooke Logan’s number one supporter
Of all The Bold and the Beautiful characters, Eric is Brooke’s biggest supporter. He always defends her against the criticism of others, including Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer). He also provides a shoulder for Brooke to lean on during emotional times.
Currently, Brooke is going through a difficult time with her split with Ridge. Yet, Eric is hopeful the two will work out their differences. While Brooke thinks she’s lost Ridge to Taylor again, she decides to fight for her destiny with Eric’s encouragement.
