‘The Brady Bunch:’ What Was the Dog’s Name?
There’s always some mischief going on in the Brady home. For some time, the family dog was behind a number of mishaps. That is, until the dog suddenly disappeared from the sitcom.
Here’s what we know about the dog from The Brady Bunch, as well as the family’s other pets.
What was the name of the dog on ‘The Brady Bunch?’
It’s the story of a lovely lady and a man named Brady. With the help of their housekeeper, Alice, these parents raised their six children. That’s Greg (Barry Williams), Peter (Christopher Knight), and Bobby (Mike Lookinland), Marcia (Maureen McCormick), Jan (Eve Plumb), and Cindy (Susan Olsen).
For some time, there were even more “family members” living in the Brady home. For the first season of this sitcom, the family also had a fluffy and fun-loving dog named Tiger.
The Brady boys first adopted this dog when they were living with their single father. Tiger eventually became the family’s pet when they moved together with the girls. Tiger was also known for causing mischief, even during the wedding of Mike and Carol.
Tiger was noticeably missing from some episodes of ‘The Brady Bunch’
This loveable dog appeared in a handful of episodes, spending time with the Brady clan. However, after an incident with the dog on set, the Brady family, (as well as the cast and the crew of this sitcom,) had to say goodbye to Tiger.
“Tragically, during the filming of the episode ‘Katchoo,’ the original Tiger was struck and killed by a delivery vehicle (varying reports claim it was either a florist or pizza boy) on the Paramount Studio lot,” Me TV reported.
“The show had to go on, so the trainer rushed to find a replacement to complete filming for the episode,” the article continues. “Unfortunately, the new Tiger wasn’t the actor his predecessor was.” This new dog was excluded from The Brady Bunch.
The Brady Bunch family briefly had another pet
Tiger wouldn’t be the first Brady pet to disappear from the sitcom. The girls’ cat, “Fluffy,” who appeared in the first episode, caused some trouble at the Brady wedding. After that, the cat was missing from future episodes without much explanation from the Bradys.
Pets aside, these characters were always busy with school, going on dates, or just spending time in the backyard. The Brady Bunch ran for over 100 episodes, with some of the kids growing up on television.
When these characters reappeared for the movie adaptation, titled The Brady Bunch Movie, which premiered during the 1990s. Without Tiger or Fluffy, these characters did their best to save their childhood home via a talent show.
Episodes of The Brady Bunch are available for streaming on Hulu.
