‘The Challenge’: 1 Infamous Player Many Other Contestants Hated Now Seems to Be Winning Them Over
MTV’s The Challenge is full of huge personalities, as that’s what makes the show interesting. And Wes Bergmann has been competing for the big money for years. While he’s known for his ongoing feud with Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, the two squashed it all during Total Madness. But, of course, someone as devious and good at the game as Bergmann will always face obstacles when it comes to winning.
Now, it looks like some Challenge contestants might really respect Bergmann, as they’re showing him support on his latest Instagram photos. Here’s what’s going on.
Wes Bergmann has a number of enemies from ‘The Challenge’
All great Challenge players have plenty of fans — but they have even more enemies. Bergmann is known for his quick wit and abilities to create strong alliances to get him through to the end of each season he competes on. And that’s typically gotten him quite far. Unfortunately, a few players in the recent past have called him out for his behavior. And one of them is Ashley Mitchell.
Mitchell took to Twitter to call out competitors who are already scheming for season 36 — and everyone thinks she’s talking about Bergmann.
“Some of these people already making up storylines …. Can we get real ones only,” Mitchell tweeted on July 22. Then, she added in another tweet, “Also want y’all to know the same old, old characters already up to their old tricks. Sliding in DMs, making pre alliances, and figuring out fake fights. Make reality real again y’all.”
To that, Bergmann replied with a snarky response of his own. “All cameos purchased this week will buy more cricket wireless minutes I’ll be using to exclusively call rookies and scheme with OGs,” he tweeted. “Also Instagram is charging me extra for all the DMs I’m sending.”
Bergmann’s posting photos to Instagram that a number of contestants are noticing
Despite Bergmann’s public spat with Mitchell, it seems he has the backing of a lot of other contestants. He’s been showing off his physical progress while he’s working out in preparation for season 36. And he showed off his new buff physique with an Instagram photo he posted on Aug. 18.
Many competitors flocked to the photo to show their support.
“Everybodyyyy BE AWARE Wes isn’t playin around!!! back to the late 2000’s Wes,” Cory Wharton commented.
In response, Bergmann said back, “I may have overdone the lifting.”
Rogan O’Connor also commented, “F*CK YEAH!!! It’s rookie bashing time.”
Jay Starrett added, “That swole boy.”
And Jenny West, the Total Madness winner, even wrote, “ZADDY.”
‘Challenge’ fans think Bergmann might be winning people over
Bergmann hasn’t always had the best track record of getting along with fellow contestants. But between his recent reconciliation with Devenanzio and all the support he’s getting on his comments, it looks like he might be in for a seriously good season if he’s competing on season 36.
“I know Wes plays up his TV persona but it seems like most of the cast likes him now,” a Reddit fan pointed out.
“I love when men hype each other like this,” another added.
Not everyone’s excited about Bergmann’s return, of course. Bergmann posted a photo of him and his wife to the ‘gram on Aug. 22, and Paulie Calafiore left a snarky comment of his own.
“‘Gonna pretend to hold Bootstrap so I can flex my bicep,'” Calafiore noted of Bergmann “pretending” to hold on to his dog in the photo just to flex. So far, Bergmann hasn’t paid any attention to the snarky comment.
We’re excited for season 36 of The Challenge — and we’re all wondering who Bergmann will team up with on the show next!
