‘The Challenge 35’: Ashley Mitchell Claims Wes Bergmann Wanted to Go Home
Two-time The Challenge winner 32-year-old Ashley Mitchell has called Wes Bergmann out several times, both in-person and online. She believes he threw himself into elimination against ally Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio because he wanted to go home to his wife.

Two-time champ Ashley Mitchell returned for Total Madness after losing in the War of the Worlds 2 finals, leaving empty-handed. Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio called her out for her exceptional social play, and the two went at each other early in the competition.
She attempted to throw him into the upcoming elimination and had a few castmates on her side. However, Johnny had more friends, and her plan failed, resulting in Jay Starrett going into Purgatory a second time.
The following week, Johnny retaliated and successfully threw Ashley into elimination against returning champ, Dee Nguyen. With the help of Wes Bergmann, the Australian-native won, making Ashley the second girl eliminated this season.

The veteran went on to win three daily challenges back-to-back. He won Decontamination and Throne Off individually as well as Tunnel Rats with his team. One of his wins resulted in a much-needed Burger King feast and $5,000 cash.
Additionally, Wes had several allies in the house, many before the season began, including one with his long-standing rival, Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio. Despite the alliance seeming obvious and many castmates noting their unlikely partnership, the two were not targeted.
After Wes won his third daily challenge, he decided he wanted to throw himself into elimination. However, his ally campaigned to the house and asked them to nominate him for Purgatory.
They honored his wishes, and surprisingly Wes still went through with his plan. Unfortunately, the gamble didn’t pay off as Johnny sent the veteran home.
Ashley Mitchell thinks Wes Bergmann wanted to go home
After Ashley’s elimination, she went off on Wes and called him a “snake” for helping Dee. She has continued expressing her annoyance of the veteran on Twitter as she, alongside several castmates, live Tweet with each episode.
30 minutes after the episode began, Ashley tweeted, “Some people want air times and more seasons. Not wins. Pay attention to who that is.” Many followers quickly figured out who she hinted at and noted that Wes focuses on getting more “moments” to guarantee callbacks as opposed to winning the season.
One fan argued back and claimed that Wes always “wants to win,” to which Ashley replied, “where?” Shortly after the episode aired, the 32-year-old stated, “If you truly wanted to win, you would NEVER go against your own alliance.”
She directed the latter part of her tweet toward The Challenge production crew, telling them, “stop calling people who want to go home to wives, fiancés, or significant others. Let the game be for those who want to play.”
Based on her tweets, Ashley thinks Wes threw himself into elimination, wanting to leave the competition to return to his wife. Other fans agree and believe the veteran made a deal to share the winnings if his ally wins. Johnny Bananas also claimed that Wes never wanted to compete in elimination until he expressed a desire to go in.
The Challenge: Total Madness airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on MTV.
